Trailering a Step Hull
Has anyone had problems with getting a step hull on the trailer? I have a Vanguard trailer and the bunks fit the boat perfectly when it is on the trailer and it lines up the boat perfectly when coming on, but the steps get hung up as it is coming on and I have to use a lot of throttle to get the steps to drop over the bunks. Once they do the boat is on the trailer and it is less than a inch from the front roller ( perfect ) but the steps are starting to be hard on the carpet. Has anyone had this problem with their trailer and if so what did you do? I have thought about the plastic slides, but I do not know if they will hold up to the weight of the 38'.

Can you drop the trailer in a bit deeper? I never get hung up on our Hustler (on or off).

Re: Trailering a Step Hull
Boomer is right you need to drop the trailer in a little further.
I've never driven any of my boats on the trailer. Once you know how deep to back it in , I've always slid it on by hand with no issues. |
Re: Trailering a Step Hull
Tim the others are correct from the 29 to the 38 you must go deeper, and try not to power it on, it seems easier to winch it on. Good luck.

Re: Trailering a Step Hull
All,
Thanks - I am going to dry deeper. I was just concerned that I would lose the guiding on to the trailer if I were to go deeper. I will give it a shot next weekend. Tim |

Re: Trailering a Step Hull
Dont drive on to the trailer just back it down. I had a similar problem as my trailer was delivered with large wheels and a rather high bunk height on an avenger. If you drive it on eventuallly you will skin the carpet and chip gel on your steps.
