Default 290 with small blocks?

Anyone out there run a 290 with small blocks? I'm wondering how it would do with a pair of 400 hp small blocks? Would the lesser weight make up for the lower torque? And this has nothing to do with my thinking about replacing the water pump impellers, nothing at all!
