Winter Projects.

Well the boat is in storage so it's time to start dreaming up mods to improve looks and function. Here's a list of things to be done on the 26 this winter.

Just ordered 4 purple billet 6.5 speaker grills & 2- 10" grills.

Install two stainless front bolster foot rails.

And my biggest pet peave! Removing the carpet from the engine compartment floor as well as the ski locker floors and replacing with with a rubber sheet product. I must say I don't understand why they ever put carpet in these areas.

Maybe a new steering wheel will be on tap. I have a purple now, but maybe will switch styles.

Re: Winter Projects.

I just got mine in the storage unit and have been making the same kind of list

so far;

5K BTU AC on the inverter
Bimini top for the family
3000 more watts for the stereo (take it to 10K total)
4 more pairs of 6.5s
Flush mount the DVD player in the cabin for the LCD
convert the head to suck-out
new carpet for the cabin (kids and red gatorade do not mix  )
Dana Marine exhaust
rub rail backing plastic (mine is cracked under the stainless)
Paint if I can swing it

It is going to be a long winter that will not be long enough

My winter project is to sell my boat!

Re: Winter Projects.

Dock your killing me!! You know what will happen if you sell your boat??
We'll have one of those summers that avg 90 deg, no wind and sunny everyday. And you'll be sitting at home in the air conditioning saying boy if we only had our PQ again................

Well if that's the case maybe I do wish you'd sell that thing,. :D

Re: Winter Projects.

Heh - the wife just finalized her travel schedule for next summer. Gone almost every weekend again, and I'm not crazy enough to try and launch, run, and recover that boat by myself with two kids under 5 in tow! That might be enough to start me drinkin' again! :evilb: :drink:

Re: Winter Projects.

1. Impellers in both raw water pumps which I'm sure will be a blast to do
2. Wire in power relay I bought from Eddie marine for that stupid hatch ram
3. Install and wire my battery charger. Boat has factory shore power, but no batter charger. WTF?
4. New mooring cover
5. Remove covers/foam from hatch cushions, make new boards from starboard and have them recovered.

Thats it I think.

Scooter, Thanks for reminding me I need to call Rex and have a relay added to my order.

Re: Winter Projects.

Well I called Rex and they no longer make or sell the relay. Apparantly they had a high number of returns on them due to poor quality components. :(

Re: Winter Projects.

Called Rex back today and ordered 2 purple powder coated battery boxes as well. I'mm call tomorrow morning and order the rubber flooring material and glue to place in the engine compartment where the carpeting is now. Getting rid of the carpeting will be a great improvement.

Hope everyone had a good summer. We really enjoyed our first season with our 290. I am thinking about replacing the gauges with Beede. Has anyone had any experience with them?

Fast Foward, You should use Dimond Plate. I'll send you a pic of mine, it looks great!

Re: Winter Projects.

I thought about the diamond plate and even talked with a guy that thought he could get the purple I wanted. I decided to go with the vinyl simply because I want to used the space and wanted something that would hold up, not scratch as well as hear anything banging around. I've bought the vinyl already and just am waiting for a free weekend to start working.

I think I'm going to pull the steering wheel as well. Dana Marine has new line of wheels in different colors for only $125.00
