Opinions please!
Greetings everyone!
I've visited many times as a guest, finally bit the bullet and joined the fray. With Powerquest getting ready to open it's doors again soon, I'm entertaining a purchase of a 2005 320 LSC; twin Yanmar diesels, loaded with options. I would be very interested in hearing other Powerquest owners opinion of this boat and quite frankly, the future of PowerQuest in general. Please respond! |
Ed at Great Lakes had that boat for sale a while ago. It was an 05 I think and was kep on the same dock as I kept my Avenger, lift kept. There a super nice ride, I like them better than the Formula's
The new owner of PQ is a rigging guy and I have seen some of his work, clean would be an understatement. The stuff he puts out should be 1st rate. As for the future of PQ who knows, but I think ther guy at the helm is a good boat guy. |
PQ is here for along time, unfortunately it took a VERY long to complete the deal/sale....to many bumps in the road

Correct! Actually, Ed is handling the sale again for the second owner who only put about 20hrs. on the boat since purchase. I've got to find the time to go check it out. Thanks for your input powerquest 380 & enticer! |
Welcome
HMBB
Welcome to the PQ crowd. I have owned three and currentlly have a 38. All I can tell you is that ,up to the close, PQ factory support was outstanding. They always did their best to answer my questions . Sometimes they would pull a guy off the floor and give him the phone if thats what it took to help me out with something. I don't know the new owners but from what I read here it sounds like we should see that level of support again. Good luck on the 32 |
Thanks performance mary!
Powerquest's future is in the hands of the new owners, best of luck to them. From the input I've been getting, quality of construction on the previously built models seems to have been a high standard up til close. This was my main concern with the Powerquest of the past. I've owned enough boats to know it's the quality of the parts and how the manufacture puts 'um together that makes a great boat, Powerquest(s) seemed to have that quality. Now, any 320 owners out there? Would appreciate any perspective from current or past owners on handling, structrual issues, pets and peeves, ect. |
HMBB, Where are you located?? There's a 32 in my area that the gentelman just purchased last year. I don't know him personally but have a friend that does. If your close I can possibly put you in contact with him.
I'm on my 2nd and with luck will be working towards my 3rd. I have nothing but good things to say about PQ. The past employees of PQ were fantastic and I would think this will live on. |
Just south of Chicago and a little north of Hammond, Ind. Fast Forward. Home port is in a private harbor off the CalSag channel. I would appreciate that information no matter where this gentlemen resides. The more knowledge the better eh?

Currently own a 05 320sc w/6.2s. Bought the boat in Spring lake Mich last year and my wife and I drove it home through the great lakes to the 1,000 Islands, about 1,000 miles by water. Very happy with the boat so far, nice combo of room, ride and still fun to drive. Old boat was a Chapparral 265ssi. Feel free with questions

Sound's like a great way to break in a new boat!
What's your opinion of the mid-cabin after a trip like that? |
You mean the coffin? Thats what my friends with cruisers call it. We use it for storage mostly, I hate a cluttered boat and its nice to have a out of the way place . Took a trip up to Belleville Canada last year in August and it came in handy as we had six adults on board. It may look small but once your in there it has air and heat so its ok for some people. I like to think of it as the rec room (small, private and mirrors). By the way the ball breaking from the cruiser crowd only lasts till the trip starts then they start whining for you to slow down and if it gets choppy they want to turn back. We like to travel and already have overnighters to Montreal and Toronto planned for this summer. When we looked at boats this and the 33ss formula were about the only ones that fit our needs.

Just what I wanted to hear.

How cool is this? PQ in Sweden!
I wish I could help you more with your boat, but I don't know that much about that model. I do see others trying to assist you which is great. Don't be so concerned about spelling and grammar. The language of Boating is universal. I have found PowerQuest owners quite helpful and I'm sure you will too! |
32LSC must be better than the 33 Formula Sunsport
I had a 2002 330 formula sunsport.......horrible ride and WAY too loud with the captain's call off while underway. Now have a 2000 Avenger w/ 80 hours and 502's. Love it. I would like to know how the 32 LSC handles rough water though....
|
For the boating *we* do, primarily on the southern end of Lake Michigan, the LSC /SC 320 was a better fit for us than the Formula. From the test drives we had taken to compare, the Powerquest enabled us a faster cruising speed in rougher waters. Don't get me wrong, the Formula's ranked right up there; but in this size, we prefered the PowerQuest.

Well guy's, it took a few months to get the deal done but the deposit is sent so it look's like it's gonna happen. We are looking into our finance options now, but it should not be long before she is ours!
Enclosed a couple of pics, needless to say, we are very excited about next season. |
Great looking boat.. very sharp.
I took a tour of the factory in Nov of 2004... not long before they closed if I recall (not knowing at the time). The owner had a 32 in there with same colors, they were experimenting with the add on swim platform being even with the glassed in platform of the mold, wonder if thats your boat? Looks sweet!! -Wally |
Congratulations. I really like the colors. That'll be in style long into the future.

Thanks guys,
Wally I added a couple of better pics of the swim platform. According to the owner, the extended swim platform and the engine compartment hatch / sun deck was all optional and customized on this boat. |
Congratulations, what year is it. WHAT IS THE EXPECTED CRUSE AND TOP SPEED?

2005 - with 180hrs on the 315hp Yammars. Set to factory specifications, it cruises at 45 with a top speed of 55mph. Not very impressive compared to what most of you guy's are running, but at that cruising speed we are getting 2mpg. That's gonna make getting around Lake Michigan a lot more fun and easier on the wallet too!
|
I was 1st owner of blue 32 with yanmar's
I was the one who ordered up the diesel 32 and I loved it. I had to get rid of it thru a divorce. I ran the wheels right off that boat
in 05 summer from chicago to superior to indian river. It never gave me any trouble other than a few waranty issues which were fixed by great lakes. |
