340 Vyper Option Upgrades??
 

I was looking at a '99 340 Vyper yesterday, and while it was low hour (140) and no major issues (needed a good cleaning), it was missing some of the options I am really looking for, namely 1) Bimini and camper canvas, 2) Ac/heat, 3) hot and cold water sink and shower).

What is qualtiy full canvas going to cost? I believe it would be relatively easy to add on.

Can I even get the water tank and heater in the boat after it has been built? if so any guesses on cost?

Ac/heat - I think are not that big of a deal to install, but how much?

I think I like this boat due to the 500 hp's it has, They did look sweet. If it wasn't for the motors I'ld keep looking because there are a lot of other boats that have those options, But this does have the 500's.

Shawn, just out of curiosity, is this boat in N. Michigan?

Yes, Elk Rapids. I'm from Boyne and it was the closest and first one I got a chance to see up close and get to ride in. I let the owner know that while I'm looking he didn't need to take me for a ride, because I'm just starting to look and have a Conquest to sell first. But I didn't refuse either, East Bay was really flat.

canvas is probably $2-3K depending on what you want. A/C will be $2K and take about 60-70 hours labor to do a good job (look under Formula forum for a 312 I installed A/C in last year). If it doesn't even have the water tank, sink, and plumbing I'd really consider walking away. There is s 2002 Active Thunder just took in on trade that is in great shape and already has everything your looking for except blue motors.....I believe I saw a claim of 80 under the best of conditions with that power though.

I know the owner of the boat. He has owned it for a couple of years with minimal use. It runs very well. My friend with a viper just had a cockpit cover and full enclosure w/bimini made at Grand Traverse Canvas. All top notch work for under 3000. The a/c i'm not sure about. The previous owner installed it into my 380 and said he had 1500.00 into it. The viper you are looking at has the nice McCloud bolsters. It's a nice low hour boat. Good Luck.

Thanks for the feed back. Out of courosity would PQ put a tank in with out a sink or shower? Probably not. I think this is one of those times when I am suppose to know the Answer.

I would find a boat with the stuff you want already on it. Most already have all that stuff.

Being in Florida is that a non-fresh water boat?

I have been trying to stay near the great lakes for three reasons, Obviously closer, but second fresh water - corrosion, & third short seasons - less sun.

Does the boat have a macerator or pump out?

Does it have a heat exchanger?

I understand well maintained salt water boats can be in great shape, when rinsed and washed. I've seen some that were absolutely wasted. Also there you don't want to be pulled over in Michigan with a Macerator
