http://www.offshoreonlyclassifieds.c...o10898-en.html
got any info on it? know the owner? i'd be interested minus power Thanks! Mark |
I have a mint 2000 280 that I just blew the motor in, make me an offer before I spend 8-10K repowering.
|
i talked to the broker -- he said that 99 would go for 36k
what were you thinking on yours? you can email me at pantera24 @ charter.net |
I have to repower mine, I cant fathom selling it for what I could get for it.
36K for that 99 is a steal, if your at all interested in it you should buy that boat. |
i'm actually going to be in tampa tomorrow -- so i am going to check it out.
i now know of 3 99's from 36 - 39 -- so that seems to be the going rate. good luck with yours -- wanna buy a Mesa Balancing 585 hp 502??? hehehe Mark |
post what you find out on the boat after it has been run in salt water. Kinda had my eye on that one as well.
Fin |
anything in particular I should look for???
|
corrosion on boat or trailer.
anything salt water has touched. exhaust elbows, drive, etc. fin |
I have a mint condition 2000 280 with only 188 hours for sale. Fresh water use only. I'm asking 42K. If you interested let me know.

the one at suncoast was a decent looking boat -- some dock rash and light scratches. rest of the boat is pretty clean. looked like the skeg was bent(slightly) motor was clean.
i'm considering it |
good deal.
have you had experience with the 28 powerquest? I am thinking of selling my wakeboard boat and getting a single engine performance boat. Looking for a good ride in chop and around 28' range. Boats i am looking at are powerquest, checkmate, nordic, donzi. I have not ridden in any of them. I am looking for a good ride and about 70mph and a good quality built boat. Fin |
no i have not -- i'm in a 24 pantera now and would like a bit more space.
the 28 fits my needs quite nicely |
did you end up buying that powerquest?
Fin |
i did! just got it 3 day's ago. didn't get quite the deal i wanted -- but i am happy none the less. the broker really went out of his way for me -- Scott is a hell of a guy -- even took me out on his 43 nor-tech!! what a blast!
|
Keep me updated how you like the boat.
I am looking at different boats and the Powerquest is one of them. Congrats Fin |
so far i'm really enjoying it -- the first thing i did was put the relay on for the hatch lift -- made a BIG difference in speed.. the stock one is so slowwwwwww..
as for boat performance -- i've had it up to about 68 on the speedo -- i'm already thinking about modifications to get me in the mid 70's -- then i'd be back where my pantera was. I will say its a NOTICABLE difference in gas mileage -- i don't know what my 600hp 502 was getting -- but this 502mag seems a lot better (of course its stock) -- so i might should just leave it alone! hehehe |
what size Pantera did you have??
I keep hearing how Panteras ride great and (fly straight) How does the 280 PQ compare to your old Pantera??as far as ride goes?? The 280 PQ is a great boat with lots of room,I think youll be happy with it. |
congrat's sounds like you got a great deal, almost my boats twin.
|
I had a 24. Its a big difference in ride -- keep in mind i've never had a stepped hull before -- so i'm sure that is part of it.
I will say the PQ seems "loose" compared to the pantera in the turns. I could go into a pretty sharp turn and feel rock solid -- in the PQ it just doesn't feel as sticky -- i know i'm not using the best terms -- but its all i can think of! hehehe other than the turns --- the ride is great -- the extra 4 feet and width really smooth out the waves. Waves that would normally have my pantera out of the water -- are just bumps to the PQ. I chose the PQ because of its quality and amenities -- it really serves my purpose right now. until i can get my 38 top gun!!! lol |
Your last boat had a deep V hull that carved the corners. The step hull will have a little slide to it. Don't do a major hard turn at high speed with a step hull. It might jump out from under you and you might get thrown from the boat (got your kill switch attached to you, right?) BTW, this the first year having my 280 Silencer. Love the ride and quality (except for the POS hatch actuator). A big difference from the 21 footer I used to have.
|
i always wear my kill switch -- SANE advice!!! :-)
hey -- the relay does the trick on the hatch swicth -- put mine on last night!!! goes up twice as fast!! yes the ride is very nice -- its funny i kept expecting it to fly -- and it just kept going through the waves like little bumps. i'm loving it!! i just want a bit more speed. |
Chaos,If you're lookin for mph,buy a gps first.That way you'll have a good,accurate starting point. BOB
