34 vyper transducer location?
The depth gauge works at speeds below 30 mph or so but after that quits working, does anybody know where the transducer is located? This is a stepped 34 vyper.
Thanks |
My 99 340 Vyper transducer was in the bilge on the starboard side about a foot behind the rear seat,,,epoxied to the hull.

Look under the refrigerator or in that general area. THAT is where they are on stepped 340's

whats the best way to get underneath the refrigerator? Just take it out?
thanks |
transducer
The refrigerator pulls out after you remove the trim screws.
My 99 Viper had the transduced in the bildge. It also cut out arouind 30 MPH. TO GET IT TO WORK AT HIGHER SPEEDS YOU NEED CLEAN WATER. When at speed the area under the refrig might be out of the water |
Mine also quit in the 30 mph range,,I guess it couldn't read bubbles/air so well.

hmmmm....my situation is a little differenet...but I think is air related.
I have a 95 340 with gaffrig depth and the puck mouted in the bildge as previously described. It works a low speeds not on plane, high speeds (50+) but 30-40 ish only when I have the tabs down. So I think it is too much air. I wonder if right at the end of the keel would be better but a little ahead of the drives? Getting it there witgh motors installed would be a nightmare. I thought about an extrenal transducer but I don't want holes and I don't think it would get clean water either? Thoughts? Jeff |
transducer
I get solid readings on my 2001 38 Avenger up to around the 60-70 range. Haven't seen where the transduser is but it gives solid continious readings.

I also have a 95 34 Vyper and it reads good at idle and around 30 but other than that its hit and miss, Gaffrig suggested a external unit but i also do not want to go that route, going to try a new location for mine as well.

let me know what you do on your 95 34...thanks Jeff
