29 Trailer Question
I've looked at several 29 over the past month and the one we've settled on sits on a Manning tandem trailer. Everything thing else I looked at sat on a triple axle. Is there anything I should be concerned about. Just seems undersized to me.

Excellent trailer(SOLID). That was my concern at first until I hooked her up to my truck and put her to the test from Ohio to New York 550 mile trip (of course with the boat on top). Mine has a gvw of 9400lbs Dual wheel. I can tell you that my trailer (Manning) will tow my Enticer 75mph with no flex, no sway and tracs perfectly down the road. I have to keep looking in my mirror to make sure it's still behind me. I was very impressed on how well it towed.

Thats good to hear. I don't recall the weight rating but I know it was up there. To be honest the boat just looks funny sitting on only a tandem axle. Seems like the ones sitting on a triple look larger.

the triples have 3500 lb axles and the tendems have 5500 lb axles my old on had a tendem and the new one is on a triple, they both pull great.
If you get one with a triple set up,do yourself a favor and dont look at the wheels/axle on tight back up turns. |
My boat trailer is a tandem axel GVW of 10K no problems.
My RV (way heavier) has triple axels. I've had it just over a year and already had to replace the tires due to the tire scrub of the triples in tight turns. |
I agree it looks funny but it works just as well and a little more friendly when making tight turns. Anything over 30' boat I would, no question have a triple axle trailer.

trailor weight
Any one know what an empty tripple axel trailor weighs in at. Mine is a Heritage.

HI - looks like most questions have been answered. I had a 29 with triple axle (3000 lb ea.) trailer and now have a 27 with same trailer (longer than necessary) and tandem axles (4-5000 lb axles). There is probably close to a 2000 lb difference in boats, but the tandem rig pulls much easier and is easier to turn & back up. The wheel size is also larger with tandem (6 lug 15" I believe). I saw lots of scrub wear on tires of triple axle. Tandem set up puts a little more tongue weight on tow vehicle which can be good or bad, depending on your rig. FYI, my trailers are steel by Integrity.
