$4.00 Gallon Gas By Summer???

This will slow things down!!! We had our 26 up for sale with the hopes of buying a 29 with twins. But at $4.00 a gallon, the truck to pull it and 3 kids to put through college that may change things. It's getting harder and harder to justify the move up. Come spring time I maybe pretty thankful the buyer I had last summer bailed..

If I didn't live in Michigan I'd trade into a nice 29-30 center console with OB's.

Remember a year ago when we were saying the same thing about the summer of '07 and it never materialized? Even at $6/gal gas is still the least of my boating expenses.

I am with you on that. I burned about 800 gals this summer.
So even if i spent a buck more next year its a very small
part of the whole boating thing.

The Concepts what got me looking at the C/C at the Chicago Show. Absolutely love them!!! But after a long debate decided in Michigan I needed some type of wind protection for those early spring and late fall runs.

Maybe I should just move south????

Don't the gas prices usually hit lowest during an election year? If so, then next summer shouldn't be too bad - $3.50ish?

$3.50 now there's something to smile about...:D I've never let the price of gas dictate my usage of the boat. The fact is we pretty much use the boat to get to the beaches that the land lovers can't access. To be honest I can't tell you how much money I spent on fuel. I normally top it off every other outing.

As for the Concepts, I thought long and hard. I love to fish and this would give me the best of both worlds. But I can't tell you how many times we've went out towards the end of summer and run into cold fronts on the way back in. Nothing major but when your wet a 10deg drop in the temps can make for a pretty miserable ride.

I checked them out at Chicago in January and I too was impressed. They have that new 30'? that is a true closed deck offshore with outboards. If I boated in brackish or salt water I would definetly consider that boat as an option over IO's.
