Powerquest Boat Run???
Brought the subject up last year, but nothing every happened. I'll bring it up again this year.
How many people are interested in an all Powerquest day of running somewhere in the Great Lakes? How many PQ owners do we have on OSO? Also be nice if PQ did something each year like Sunsation. |
That would be cool. We would definately be there.
|
I'll trailer up, but would need some logistics help.
|
Sounds Great!!!!!
When & Where?? NTP:D |
We have interest!!! The when and where???
Early summer could be good (End of June). Is this a day or weekend thing??? I don't know the answers, but I think it would be a great time. Could do a Lake Erie event, lots of things to do or something else. We really need to know how many boats would participate if it was going to really organized. Otherwise we could put something quick together. Anyone want to help with the project of organizing? |
Would definately have to be a long weekend sorta thing for us. I would be the first to help in the organization but we know nothing about Michigan other than factory trip to Holland and business trips to Detroit & Tecumseh. We would definately need logistical support. I hope this materializes. It would be killer.
|
Angel, I like the idea of a long weekend. Detroit Area could be a starting point. Could go north into Lake Huron or South into Lake Erie.
One day/night would be nice to raft together at local hangouts. - |
Would recommend something along 3-4 days for those us with a drive. The run itself could be a day, but if we could have it where we could get lodging/slips,etc.
On Erie, Cedar Point Marina, on to Crystal BayScott help! Michigan?;) Thanks for reviving! |
I would be interested in a weekend deal......Sarnia Bay, Puttin Bay, Cove Marina, just a few ideas.
|
How about this schedule?
Friday: Leave Metro Beach, Michigan to Cedar Point. Go on rides and stay night. Saturday: This could be run day. Leave CP, cruise by Put-n-Bay on way to downtown Toledo, Ohio for early lunch at the many resturaunts. After lunch, head to Gull Island (Lake St. Clair) for rafting and a little swim/party. Leave Gull Island (@ 5-6pm) and 3 possibilities: 1. Head north to Port Huron for dinner and stay night and docks. 2. Head north to Port Huron for dinner and back to Metro Beach to stay night (this is a great evening ride down the river at @ 60mph). Not a lot of traffic and usually the water is glass. 3. Head to Beach Grill (south of Metro Beach) for dinner and night life. Then take a night cruise back to Metro Beach (about 8-9 miles) Sunday: A day of rafting and new dinner spot. Could go back down to Crystal Bay for rafting. Late Sunday or Monday, say good byes |
I 'll wait to make sure my rig is running right before I would commit but I think it would be a great run. If you really want a good showing. Ask like a 50 or 100.00 registration fee. This will incourage participation. Then buy some PQ Gear with the money and dole out upon arrival - Just an Idea. Ray

Hey count me and my wife in! Sounds like a great idea. I'm up for anytime and any place. Who do I send the deposit to! This is real exciting being the fact it's Feb. Two more months till it's time to get wet!
|
I would be happy to do the collection and organize the route/stops.
I was checking PQ's web site for shirts, for $50 - 100$ we could hand out a nice polo shirt and/or t-shirt for two people on each boat. What are thoughts on time of year? |
Make it HOT July or August I have planned too many outdoors excurions in June only to see cold weather.
|
Hey Vyper96,
Like your travel schedule, but my wife and I have some concerns about the overnite stops. Do you know if there are any shower facilities? We have a 28 Silencer and am also concerned about keeping pace with the 34 and 38's during the run. The trip sounds awesome, but keep us smaller PQ's into consideration. Thanks, Rick & Debi |
June Powerquest Shindig
I have June 1 and June 15 weekends available, if any assistance with maps or anything is needed, I can help.
Let me Know, Paul |
Scheuer10...All the stops will have Showers and restrooms. I've been to all of them overnight. You shouldn't have any problems staying with everyone. This won't be like a poker run. I imagine everyone cruising between 50-60mph with some guys hammering the throttle once and awhile for some fun dualing. Especially the 38's. And if the lake is rough in certain spots, you can pull behind one of the bigger boats and ride the wake. I've even done that coming back in 12' of Lake Erie crap. Makes for a smoother, but slower ride.
Based on the rough schedule below, this would be the approx mileage Friday: Leave Metro Beach, Michigan to Cedar Point. Go on rides and stay night. 95 Miles Saturday: This could be run day. Leave CP, cruise by Put-n-Bay on way to downtown Toledo, Ohio for early lunch at the many resturaunts. 58 Miles After lunch, head to Gull Island (Lake St. Clair) for rafting and a little swim/party. Leave Gull Island (@ 5-6pm) and 3 possibilities: 80 Miles 1. Head north to Port Huron for dinner and stay night and docks. 38 Miles 2. Head north to Port Huron for dinner and back to Metro Beach to stay night (this is a great evening ride down the river at @ 60mph). Not a lot of traffic and usually the water is glass. 42 Miles 3. Head to Beach Grill (south of Metro Beach) for dinner and night life. Then take a night cruise back to Metro Beach (about 8-9 miles) 20 Miles |
As far as wearing appearl...I ran into this person at the Miami boat show..he could do "T"s and/or polos for a lot less. They do custom embroidery www.myboatsign.com
Worth while checking it out...could be a lot cheaper than the manufactures prices |
I'll be there.
|
If I would not have to trailer all the way from south Louisiana, I'd be there. Hope you guys pull it off and have a great time.
|
Looks like we have about 9 boats interested so far. Does anyone know of any other PQ owners interested? Because we could set the dates and schedule pretty soon then.
|
I might catch up with ya on the way by Monroe to Cedar Point. Some may want to trailer to Monroe that dont want as long a run. We have one of the nicest launch sites on the lake(DNR site in Bolles Harbor). 45 min. to the Bay and 1hr. and 15 to CP & 20min. to Toledo. I'll have to check dates of our LEOPA runs to see if it will be doable. By the way 96 vyper and any one else that might want to join LEOPA shoot me an email. We do trips as far north as Grand Bend Canada to Cleveland. I think first year it's $50 and $30 after that.
|
JM..was checking out LEOPA's web site. Looks well organized. How long have you been a member? How many trips a year?
Any luck selling your boat yet? |
Ive been a member for about 3 yrs. They do about 7 boating events a yr. The poker run being the largest close to a 100 boats. The others range from 20- 40 boats. Ive got alot of calls lately on the boat but nobody writing any checks yet. It is at PQ right now for some minor warranty stuff. Hatch ram, loose hot water tank and hopefully they'll put on my drive indicators. All stuff that was only suppose to be a 1 yr. warranty, but they take good care of me. Sell yours Yet? I got a call from a guy that was looking at yours and thought mine was a bit more than he could spend. I think he had a 29 to sell though.
|
I am also a member. Nice group of boaters I am new to the club and they have made me feel very welcome. The winter events have been great so far. Looking forward to my next outing.
Jim, Yes I finally joined! I'm glad to hear that PQ is helping you out. I think they are sick of me and my boat. Had it in a couple months ago and got the brush off on a lot of issues I thought should be warranty. In their defense if you go by the book they weren't. I just pulled the motors yesterday got a list of stuff to do that is way too long. The Run, I pretty much feel the same as Jim on this one. If I don't have a Poker Run or other major thing going on I'd be happy to meet up with you guys. Since I'm at Cedar Point I would join in at some place close to there. Scott |
Haven't sold yet. The guy that called on yours is scheduled to look at mine this weekend. He still has his boat to sell, so I don't know what to expect. Had another individual from Ohio look at 4 weeks ago and nothing ever came of that visit.
|
August would probably be better for us. Dont know many PQ owners in Maryland. I think we have seen mayby three others out on the upper Chesapeake. When we start going out every weekend again will let them know if I see them again. I hope more people become interested. I will be watching this thread.
|
Count us in
Sounds like a good time, count us in as well. I am new to the OSO, and also new to Powerquest boats. I just picked up an Enticer and am ready to put some hours on it.
|
Welcome aboard 53Ford. You like PQ a lot. I'm excited about getting all of us together for an outing!
Probably start the serious planning sometime this month. |
I would like to know if somebody puts something together!!
|
PQ28...plans will be made, just trying to see how many boats we have.
I thought we could try out the new chat session with everyone to pick dates and stops. Will get more serious in next couple of weeks. Welcome to the board. |
Powerquest Poker Run
Count my wife & I in also. This will be our first season with new Avenger 380. I have done a lot of boating on the Great Lakes, mostly with Cruser's and look forward to geting back on the big water. Steve
|
Sejman, welcome aboard. Stay tuned for plans.
|
Time to revive topic
OK PQ owners, Lets try and narrow down a date for a PQ meeting and run. Original thoughts were starting near the Detroit area.
Before anything is final, lets pick some possible months/dates. Everyone seemed to think July or August was good. Mike |
