What's it worth

Been looking around for something in the 26-29 foot range. My parents have a place on Torch Lake in Northern Michigan, and I would also be spending time on Lake Michigan and St Clair. I think a 27 Laser would be a nice fit, so what would a clean one like this go for?

1997 27' POWERQUEST Laser. 454mag 375hp(new 01)due to dealer winterizing. Pump-out head, Stand-up Bolsters, Cockpit Cover, Full Mooring Cover(teal)new 06. Bimini w/Full Camper Canvas (screens and windows).Lay in Carpet, Trim Tabs w/gauge, External Hydraulic Steering, Shore Power. Ship to Shore Radio. Carry on A/C. Dual Battery Charger, 3 Batteries. Upgraded stereo w/direct I-POD hookup, 12" Subwoofer, etc. Tandem Axle Trailer

Thanks,
Dave

The power of OSO! Let us know if you end up getting that and post some pics. I would be interested in knowing the condition.... I have a 96 270 Laser. She's modded with a 550hp and a bunch of supporting mods.

Hey, have you decided if you are going to purchase that 270?? If you are not going to I have a friend that would be very interested in that boat and would like his contact information. Make your decision first but if you do not purchase please let me know as soon as possible.
thank you

Love the idea of an Enticer, and am thinking that I might prefer that to the 270, but I like the prices of the 27 also.
Sure is a nice boat you have there.
Holding on right now to make sure I have a job, got to love the auto industry :( Plus if I am still employed I don't think I will be seeing the lakes to much next summer with the program launching in early 2010.

there is a nice 29 on a custom trailer for $32k in monroe, Mi.

Fast Forward 08-05-2008 04:23 PM

That 26 looks like one heck of a deal, if it's as clean as the pics portray? Wonder if it has a trailer???

D2HP 08-05-2008 10:24 PM

Seen the 26 listed, that is a real nice looking boat.

jmackin any info on the 29? Is it named Second Chance??

It is almost exactly like the one I had. 1991 w/ red and grey stripes. twin 330's. Not sure of the name. I think 91 was a good year and one of the best quality yrs PQ had. Probably the best boat I've owned! I've had a 24 baja, a 99 38 pq, and 2 cigarettes topguns. It is brokered @ harbor marine, i believe they have a website.

260 Legend SX on Torch lake

I sold my 1998 260 Legend SX with a 502, weekend package, silent choice, bimini top and trailer in April 2007 for $31k. Very clean and loaded with all the options. Sold it to a guy who boats out of Alden, MI on Torch Lake. Torch Lake is where I do 98% of my boating. I don't have any actual experience with the 29 Enticer but I have been told that you want to stay with the newer models, 1999 or 2000 and newer. They went through a hull re-design and handle much better so I have heard. Looked at a few of the 29's before I bought my Scarab.

powerquest1 02-28-2009 05:49 PM

How fast does you're Boat go.I just bought a 99 260 legend with a hp 500 merc racing motor (550 hp)wondering what I can expect.Live in Mn so I have to wait a little bit longer.

Fast Forward 02-28-2009 07:42 PM

454 mag EFI stock spinning a 4 blade hydro at 61mph on glass. New prop with very little testing before I put her to bed last year.Am hoping for a couple more. I'm going to guess upper 60's if not at 70. They tend to walk at 60 so it would be interesting to see if all that power pushes through that area?

powerquest1 02-28-2009 08:57 PM

The guy said he had it at 72mph with more to go but motor was not broken in yet.He thinks close to 80mph .The first 4 blade prop he out on chimed at 68 mph but the next one he tried at 72 mph said was smooth.

pq man 02-28-2009 10:52 PM

Let me know what actuall gps numbers are just curious!

Fast Forward 03-01-2009 09:31 AM

I'm hoping you have hydraulic steering? What size prop are you running.

powerquest1 03-01-2009 11:45 PM

I am not sure on on the new prop size but the guy said he made it bulletproof he is a mechanic I am a new powerboat owner & so exicited to get out on the water with my new boat.He said he did alot to it it only has 10 hours on it.Along with a 2007 custom trailer.Just chommping at the bit to get her on the water.Like as I said he had it at 72 mph but thinks it will go close to 80mph?

Powerquest_Baby!! 03-02-2009 12:46 AM

Take it easy out there. If you are a new boat owner dont try and push it to top speed right away--that boat will most likely chine walk on you and you need to be ready for that whole experience.

By the way the blue motor--Mercruiser HP500 is rated at 470 horsepower--not 550. I highly doubt you will hit 80 mph--you arent going to get 20 more mph that us at 385 hp.

PQCRAZY 03-02-2009 06:33 AM

I had a 1995 257 with a 500 hp in it. The best i seen on it was 68 mph , I am sure you could get to 70 but you will be backing out of it when it starts chine walk. Good luck and enjoy your new boat

Fast Forward 03-02-2009 06:56 AM

If your not sure on the hydraulic steering take a picture of the transom and post the pic. We'll be able to tell you. That is a must at over 70mph

powerquest1 03-02-2009 05:50 PM

I will check on the steering. The boat is still in storage. So you are saying this boat will not go over 70 mph without chine walking? That would be very dissapointing.

rbtnt 03-02-2009 07:46 PM

I was in a 260 with 625 - 650 hp and it would go 71 - 72 max. In the upper 60s it had to be driven to keep it from chime walking, even with external steering. The chime walking was only an issue on glass like water.

Fast Forward 03-02-2009 07:49 PM

I can tell you all trimmed out for every last mph, mine becomes a handful at over 59mph. I've heard other guys state with bigger power they have been able to power through that area but it can be a nail biter. With that much power some big K-Planes and hydro steering would be in order. The fact is this hull simply has limitations and I'm not sure anyone has spent the time nor money to figure out the shortfall. Myself I think having the bottom worked and a shorter drive installed may yield some very good results. But than again I'f I going to spend that kind of money I'll buy a different boat.

I've decided all in all it's a fun inexpensive way to hit the water,so I'm trying to be happy with it..) (Whatever thats a total lie!! I want more and always will! It's the boating way!)

Don't worry you'll love the boat no matter how fast it goes. The 26 is rock solid and easy to drive. Just have fun with it.
