380 Needs a new home ASAP.

I know this sounds like just another dead horse beating, selfless plug but since this forum has been dead I thought I would try to get some feedback. I've been told it is time for a change in venue. I have listed my boat on OSO and a few other places for what I think is a fair price. I am far from getting out of the sport but I really want to move into a trailerable sport cruiser such as a Formula SS, Wellcraft Excalibur, or something in that direction The market obviously sucks right now but I would entertain trades if anyone is or knows someone looking to move in the Avenger 380 direction. For those that have seen my 97' 380 know it is spotless, turnkey with lots of amentities. I forgot to mention it is the fastest 97' on the market :D I would not want to sell it but the wife wants a bit more room for the new addition. Give me some thoughts on this, if for no other reason than to move this forum along a bit.
Josh

The market does suck,In todays market I would think low to mid 60s to get people to call.
If it was my boat I would keep it,not worth selling/giving away.
good luck.

You might to get on a few of the boats you are thinking about & check them out. You may not pick up as much additional room as you think. And if you do that extra cupboard may cost you 25-50k!

Perfectmix 08-27-2008 08:42 PM

lol, I keep telling my wife we already have a sport cruiser.

Rock Star 08-28-2008 07:04 AM

In pretty much the same situation as Perfectmix, heavily debating moving up to something bigger....and keep thinking about those sport cruisers. The debate is move into a 38 Avenger or Formula SS? I'm leaning towards the 38 Avenger, now just need to figure out what to do with my 29 Enticer.

SinkorSwim 08-28-2008 07:19 AM

Wow... it seems we all are in the same boat kinda... :grinser010:

Good luck fellas...

Shawn D 08-28-2008 08:39 PM

Probably think I'm nuts, but I say these PQ (pleasure)/performance boats use less fuel than the cruisers. A buddies 330 SS works pretty hard to see 50 mph, maybe 4800rpm. Our 340 cruises an easy 53mph at 3600rpm.

Perfectmix 08-29-2008 06:55 AM

Shawn, I have no complaints about my 380. Probably one of the best 38' Performance boats to spend long weeksnds on. I'm just looking for a boat I can leave in the water at the Harbor. I refuse to leave my PQ in the water for anything more than a couple of days even though I have an anual slip.
BTW. Nice pictures of your trip up the St. Mary's I did that trip a few years ago it was great.

NKissau 08-30-2008 08:10 AM

I was going to buy a Formula 330SS and decided on the Avenger. The PQ has the same headroom and the same size cabin. The only difference was the cockpit seating. And the Formula is 10'6" wide. I know the PQ rides better and is much faster. And it was much cheaper.

32fever 08-30-2008 09:43 AM

I don't see it listed for sale on oso or boattrader

My OSO add has expired, Lots of hits but no calls. I'll just continue to be patient and maybe somone with the boat I want will be looking for my boat.

Perfectmix,
Not trying to steal your thread but where in TC is your well ? We just move here and I'm suprised at the lack of wells and decent storage places.
ed

Perfectmix 09-02-2008 10:15 AM

Ed, Your not stealing any threads here. I have a slip at Torch River Marine that I keep my 38 sometimes and keep a ski boat there most of the time. Traverse City is a hard place get an annual slip. You really only have Clinch, and Elmwood. I know Suttons Bay and Northport also have waiting lists. If you are willing to do East Bay the Harbor at Mountain Jacks had slips available last time I checked. I just spent the weekend in Elk Rapids harbor and it was great. When asked about an annual slip it was at least a 5 year wait.

Interceptor 09-02-2008 02:36 PM

Josh,
Thanks for he response. I put my name on the waiting list at Torch River Marina a few weeks ago and they thought there may be openings next spring. Yea, Suttons, Clinch and Elmwood are five year waits.
There is a condo developement in Suttons with a bunch of empty wells but they wany $4700 for a 32' which is a little pricy for me.
Right now I'm in a storage lot near Elmwood and will trailer for the remainder of the season.

2INDAPINK 09-24-2008 01:54 PM

in todays market and the NADA price book......Mid to low 50's would probably get you a buyer with in 30-45 days.....just my .02cents

pkspx 09-25-2008 02:23 PM

yeah no offense, it is a great looking boat and in very good condition! but you won't get anymore then 55K for it.

TCH6868 09-25-2008 04:14 PM

If you have any luck selling yours let us know. I have tried to sell my 95 for quite some time, with not even a call. Not sure what to do with it in the spring, but it will have to go as well.

Perfectmix 09-25-2008 06:02 PM

Guess thats par for the course in this market, I thought mid 60's was a steal:eek: I wiil keep it for mid 50's. Can't get anything close for that money. Thanks for the replies.

The 38 ft PQ's fall into the performance cruiser slot....BUT the Formula SS models are definitely the Cruisers and sharp ones at that. the 400 SS is really nice for the $$$$

BGIII 10-13-2008 03:08 PM

You sell that boat for mid 50's to move into a sport/cruiser and you'll be kickin' yourself in the ass until you die. What about a lift at your marina? I have often thought a performance boat on a lift with a top of the line cover down to the chine would be the ultimate setup as long as the marina is secure.

WBG28PQ 10-13-2008 08:30 PM

I agree on the bad market I had 400 views and no offers on my silencer to talk about 03 ho with trl and lowered price to 52 then 51 then 50 and gave up hopefully next spring is a little better for all my2 cents thats worth .005 by know

BG, I gave up selling for that exact reason. That selling ASAP was to catch a deal that has since came and left. I'm hoping to get down in your neck of the woods a few times next summer. I haven't boated in SW Michigan since the last SOTW. Great Lakes Marina in Muskegon was a great place to transient.

If you are coming down, make sure to touch base ahead of time. We have had a great time at Great Lakes the last 4 years. The boaters and the staff know how to have a good time and it doesn't hurt having 2 bars and a party store directly across the street.

Hi Josh, do you have the engines back in and running? I know they were out for couplers when my friend Mark went to look at it months ago. I keep riding him to get another boat. Anyways you can't go wrong keeping it either. When I went from my enticer to the avenger I never regretted it once.

Had the engines reinstalled right after the 4th of July. The couplers ended up looking like new. go figure. Anyway everything ran out perfect just took one last ride yesterday and then winterized it. As long as I can get out on the water I'm not complaining. Take care
