Upgrading 1996 257 PQ hp500 to 675hp, anybody with the same specs played around with 3 / 4 blade / pitch what was your outcome? |
I'm running a B-1(4 blade)28 pitch on a PQ280 with around 650 hp. Bob

Top speed / RPM and your elevation, I’m sitting at 4500ft |
Top speed 78-80 gps
Elevation...that's funny ZERO (New Orleans) RPM 5400-5500,pretty busy at that speed in a 280,can't always check. 3600-3700 is around 53-54 mph My rev limit is set at 5800,I probably could use a smaller prop, let rev higher and get more mph but I'm not really into top speed all that much. I enjoy the "mid range pull" and the cruise speed.Hope this helps. Bob |

I had a 1" spacer when I bought the PQ.The lean to port was extreme as it started to lean at 45mph.I removed the spacer and that corrected the problem. However it will still lean at 65+ but not all the time. It depends on the wind and water conditions.
|
Well... I think my slip problem is because prop is to high. I would hate to create more lean though. Another possibility is a 5 blade but I would bet that would create more lean. Do you have the spacer you would like to sell?
Why did you remove the spacer? |
sure,I'll sell it. I removed it because the boat didn't need it.It comes out the hole like a 21 footer,no blow out, runs flat with less lean to port. The first owner thought it needed bow lift and thought the spacer would help. I like it without . Bob

Specialk, are you thinking of taking your weekend pkg equipment out to save some weight?
I would be interested in all that suff since I have the straight bench seats. |
I am leaving most of it in still. only taking about the top cabinet that goes on top of the counter top. I plan on keeping everything to pass on to next owner when I sell. Basically only 3 screws to put back in. As nice as it is to say it has the option, the seat is a lot more practicle.

Fair enough.....seems I always want what I don't have.
maybe I should hold out for a Revenge!! |
"...I decided to tinker with the boat..." lol,That's funny.Been there, done that. I'm really glad I did though.I turned a good boat into a great boat! I smile the whole time I'm on it.I think you're right...I do believe my X with the blue motor is different.I measured it once but I've forgotten the #s.When I get to the shop I'll find all the pieces to the spacer and measure my prop shaft to bottom.
