Is it difficult to remove the front bolster seats?
Im getting ready to pull both seats and get them re-upholstered. I see there are screws holding the seats in place. If I remove the screws from the floor and remove the nuts from the railing will the seat just pull out? I guess Im concerned that once I take the screws out of the floor that the backing plate that they are screwed into will fall. Am I making more of this than I should?

the backing plates are fiberglassed into the floor.why not unbolt the seat itself from the frame?

I have pulled my front bolster seat frames to have the factory white out paint striped and powder coated white. There are aluminum machined taped backing plates that are fiberglassed under the floor. I did have a few tight screws where the head got messed up and I had to drill it out and re tap, the stainless screws to aluminum can get seized up from corrosion over time.
If you go that route you might want to spray some silicone or wd-40 first. I used a Philips socket and a ratchet for the seat frame screws. |
Thanks for the advice! I think I will just unbolt the seat from the frame though--just seems like I will save myself some headaches! Just looking forward to getting the last of the pink and teal vinyl out of the boat!
