Replacing gauges--having problems! What will fit?
This might seem like a wierd question but on my 1994 dash the gauges mount from underneath. I purchased another members 1997 Powerquest Legend gauges (Faria) that mount from the top and they are too big to fit in the holes on my dash! What gives?

Bust out the jig saw and get to cutting lol

I guess I can get out a file but are there any other options? Has anyone else run into this problem? |
If you're seriously considering making your holes bigger I would strongly consider using a drum sanding attachment and a drill. Buy the one that is the largest diameter that you can fit in the hole, and you should be able to do a good job with it if you need to go that route.

Could you use a dremmel and just go around the opening lightly until the gauge fits?

Hmmm, I had never heard of a drum sander before but that looks exactly like what I need! Thanks!

I was wondering if someone could help me out....Right now Im buying everything for my dash makeover (boat is in storage 30 miles away)...So far Ive purchased the gauges, bezels, steering wheel and just had some vinyl designed for my new dash...
I also want to replace all the switch covers with new ones and that is the reason for my post... Here is what the new dash will look like (both bottom pics) http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m.../Sample_01.jpg I know there are 14 total switches but does anyone know how many of them are single illumination, double illumination or just plain (no illumination)? I want to replace all of the covers with new ones and need to know. Thanks! |
