What happened to all the stuff in the PQ plant?
Just wondering what happened to all the hulls, parts, molds, etc... in the Powerquest building? Anyone know?
|
And has the factory property sold?
If it did whats in it now?? |
Last time i drove by last week the stuff outside is still rotting away like the last 3-4 years and who knows about the stuff inside. The for sale sign is still in the Yard for all you PQ guys across the big pond from me :eureka: FYI i talked to one of the orginal owners this past summer that i know and told him he should get back in the bis and get PQ back on the map, he kinda laughed because the banks want way to much for it, but did think about it for a min or two!

It would be an interesting walk through the buildings.....
|
I would like to walk through there to.
|
Really have to wonder what is left there. Did the bank just lock the doors with half completed boats, engines repo'd by Merc, equipment liquidated? Has stuff been sold off?
Could someone walk-in and start up again with what was left or has PQ been picked over. Moulds would been worhtless except to another builder. The banks must a some point be prepared to almost give away the remains...wish someone had the capital to start up again. Just too high of a quality product to let die this way...just reading this forum I know they would have customers. Arctic Cat made their comeback in the 80's with tons of customer loyalty. |
Next time i drive by i will take some pictures of the factory and molds for all you out of towners, just give me a email address to send to and some one else will have to post because i dont think i can post pictures on oso unless i upgrade my memership I think?

The last owner spent months trying to upgrade and repair the molds. Who knows what has happened to them now that they've sat idle for over a year now. To my knowledge, its all still there but I think that there was an auction that might have skimmed some of the easy stuff off from the top but I have to believe that the molds are all still there... rotting.

I boat at the chain, this will be my 14 year out there.
|
Below is what ajfisher claims was both the best day and worst day if his life.... after breaking into the Pq plant to finally see the birthplace of his beloved 290, he quickly came to terms with the fact that it was truly over for powerquest. Photo taken on location by the 288 kid himself.

I probably have a better chance at getting a PQ shirt from the abandon factory than you do getting a sunsation one from Joe!:drink:lol

Hi there
I was just up to Holland yesterday dropping off my interior to Randy of G&T to have redone. Randy was one of the original interior managers for Kevin. They said that most of the factory is in tact. They do know that some of the patterns for interriors were actually used as interior frames. They got one boat in recently to redo the interior and the boards were pattern boards. But they indicated most everything is there to startup again...just add suppliers. They also indicated it will be auctioned in the next year. Jeff |
