Looks good. I love the hull shape and the gunwale rise at the back of the windshield. You can see how PQ boats evolved over time.

Knot 4 Me 05-04-2011 06:52 AM

Nice! These boats have the fuel tank in the bow, correct?

cuposterchild 05-04-2011 07:57 AM

Yes they do. Believe 35 gallons. Just picked one up and am pretty excited about running her around (specially with $5/gal. for gas)

cuposterchild 05-04-2011 07:58 AM

XLT---boat looks good...like the blue/black combo

Love those XLTs!
hope one day to have one in red/black

tommymonza 05-04-2011 10:25 PM

Kinda of funny to see the enthusiasm still going for a boat my brother designed in 1976 and built the 1st one in the fall of 1977.

its a cool design that will never be out of style, people that know what they are will still pay top dollar, i searched for 2 years before I found this one that was in the condition I wanted for the price I wanted to pay

So True people often wonder what these things are. You aren't going to find many well built boats with 24* hull under 20ft that are as all around useable (platforms and sunpads, etc).

I wish I had that windshield, the only one I could find with that design was listed for 12k

cuposterchild 05-05-2011 07:04 PM

Thanks....yeah yellow and gray wasn't my favorite color but the euro windshield was a must...she cleaned up well.

streetone01 05-14-2011 09:32 PM

How does the ride change as the fuel load burns off? Or can you even tell? Love these boats!

Will be able to tell you in a few weeks...I need to do some in depth prop analysis. Like to do this whenever I get a new boat. From what I can tell these boats get a little "light" and start to chinewalk a little more when they lighten up in the bow. I am pretty sure the old Baron's had the tank in the floor so they drive a bit different than the 185s. The other guys can tell ya a lot more than I can...but hoping to get some serious wheel time in this summer.

there is also the 230 conquest but its a two page add so i couldnt get it to come up

cuposterchild 05-17-2011 07:04 PM

thanks XLT it is really interesting to see how different each of these boats were and the amount of options you could get. Looks like the motorized hatch along with mirrored under-side hatch was available (getting me thinking bout upgrades).

xlt86 05-18-2011 12:04 AM

From what I have heard the LS had VERY limited numbers infact I think I have only seen a picture of one in a junk yard somewhere. Think most went for the BR/XLT's

I hate the way it rides with a full tank. 90% of the time I only run 10-15 gal in it. With full tank it likes to porpise and requires little tab to get it smooth. It is a whole differant boat with a near empty tank, thats the way I like it. I can tell you about any handling you want to know.

Using your XLT as the base for where I would like to bring mine up to (only want to keep it around 300-350 hp because it is going to be used for watersports).

what did it take to get it in the 70ish range, ive been looking for an alpha ss or a stern jack to throw on it but I want to keep it as reliable as possible

mountainmadness 06-23-2011 09:11 PM

Stock it ran 58. Ran 70.1 with 383, vortec heads, airgap, 750, 9.8:1, roller cam 222/230 duration/.509/.528 lift. Emi exhaust and still had a stock alpha w/ 23p mirage

My current motor is as reliable as this one was. Just gotta buy good parts and know what ur doin lol
