on the front side of the outdrive on the lower end theres a small hole..try sticking a coat hanger or small drill bit and clean it out ,,,alot of time they get full of mud..

if someone had the outdrive off for service check and see if the plastic lock tab is in place.

A drill bit works great but DO NOT use a drill. I had this problem before on our BAJA, and we used a long bit and you twist it in by hand making sure you dont see a lot of aluminum shavings coming out as well. It is amazing as to how much can come out of that hole.

You can use a drill if you know what you are doing and know how long a bit you can use without getting into the case. There have been times after a trip to LOTO that I could not get all the wood cleared out without using a drill as it was packed in so tight. I have a bit that is marked with blue masking tape just for this task. When the opening is clear, you set the bit all the way in until it is bottomed out and then pull it back a tad and mark it with the tape. Use a very slow drill speed and you will be fine and not damage anything.

You can also take the tube off the back side of the speedo and use an air compressor and blow the line out. I just did that 2 days ago and got all kinds of stuff out. Hope this helps.

Ditto. 9/64 bit works perfect.
