Depth Finder
Hey PQ owners...
I have a 95 340. It came with a gaffrig depth sounder and the puck glued on the starboard side just below the pully on the motor. It really never worked good at speeds but now the head unit is bad and I need to replace. What are you guys using and in particular the type of transducer. I have read up and see that the glued in transducers are not reliable as air gets under the hull (ya, even on an old school 95 with a notch). Please share you findings. Thanks. Jeff |
I just installed a Faria unit with water and air... installed it next to the old Graffrig puck, not back in the water yet but will let you know how it works as my old one only worked basically at slow idle speeds

Okay Jeff I finally got my depth sounder working the unit is a Faria with water and air it came with a transom mount transducer in which I coundn't use as my boat sits on a Air Dock lift so I tried a transducer that sits on top of the hull and didn't realize the boat has a cored hull (just wasn't thinking) so that didn't work so I had to order a thru-hull style which took forever to get but got it ...it works great up tp 40 mph then stops reading the depth...I'm going to live with it...lol

Up date to my last post ...the guage does work up in the higher speeds it starts to flash after 40mph and reads the depth alot slower, but does read.
