My 280 chine walks at full speed also. There was a PQ dealer in my home town up untill they went out of business and now thay specialise in Baja. I know the owner of the dealer ship and he told me that its because of the step hull. All the mid sized single step PQs had that issue with chine walking at high speeds with them trimed up. And he also stressed that you should never jerk the throttle back when it starts walking, It will cause the rear of the stern to lift wich boils the water even more with the step hull causing the out drive to loose bite in the water and can cause you to loose controll and possibley spin out. He told me the safest way to bring it out is to slowley bump the trim down and you slowley reduce throttle. Hope this helps.
