Just bought 340 Vyper, What anchors do you use??

What anchor/anchors do you guys use?? Been reading a lot about the Box and Fortress. Do you drop them off of the side or walk them up front? What kind of anchor do you use off of the back to keep it straight? All help is appreciated!

I use a box anchor...I drop it of the side and walk the line to the bow cleat..and reverse the steps when I want to pull up the anchor..

Never a good idea to walk on the bow with anchor in hand..a lot could go wrong..

Enjoy the new boat...Pics????

288KID has a pretty sweet system he uses... Just gets a couple fat chicks to hold the boat while @ the sandbar :lolhit:

What sandbar does he go to? Sounds like fun!!! No pics, left it in storage. I do have one at home of the same boat on the water, I'll post it soon!

Tom, I didnt know you even needed an anchor on the chain. It is so shallow I thought you just put your drive down a little and hop out of the boat...LOL

Congrats! Where will you be boating?

I dont think box anchor will work in Lake MI, i could be wront but with with a little wind and chop i dont see the holding a Viper. I never seen one used on the my side of the pond.

TooManyToys 02-19-2012 06:02 PM

I'll be out of Hammond Marina, pics will be in a month or so, still have it in storage. I hope the box will work out on Lake Michigan, just bought a large ss one! Any input on what anchor you guys use would be appreciated.

You will need 2 anchors any time you are at the beach one front one back otherwise your boat is going to keep swinging all over the place. Did you get a slip at Hammond or will you be trailering? I launch there pretty much every summer weekend. Lookin forward to seein ya out there.

I get a slip there, been there with jet skis and another boat last 2 yrs. what other anchor should I use?

Need4SpeedGTCS 02-19-2012 09:22 PM

I have two Danforths and one Plow...the lake I'm on has a sand bar and some nice beaches but mostly gravel bottom...and drops off really quick. Anchor depends on bottom mostly...

If you get the large box anchor it will work, it's a VERY heavy b*tch and suggest as other, toss off back and work around to bow. Not sure how much mudd you have there, but it holds a lot on the pull up add nother 22lbs you will definitely get a workout.
