looking at 99 260 legend with volvo 454
 

i am currently looking at a 1999 powerquest 260 legend, boat has 500 hrs, looks to be in nice shape, and comes with matching trailer, mooring cover, and bimini top. My question concerns performance. The boat is equiped with a 454 volvo duo prop set up. The current owner doesn't know what hp the motor is. What were the availabilites in 1999???? What is the typical speed with these variations???? What would be the average value of a boat like this.
I am a little worried about the volvo part, as it seems to be rare. I am worried it may be difficult to sell down the road if i decide to.
Please share your thoughts.

Go with your gut on that one.

Consider a mercruiser 454 mag efi with a bravo 1 will do about 62 mph...What hp is the volvo? With a duoprop you will have increased drag...I would say (depending on hp) you will be anywhere from 54 to 60.
I agree that you might have a harder time selling it with both the duoprop as well as the volvo.

just talked to the seller, says it ran 68 gps with 5 people in boat last summer. seems hard to believe, he says he thinks performance is better because of duo prop

anyone know the potential horsepower options of this 454 volvo gsi engine???

That motor is rated at 405hp. No way he was seeing 68 gps with 1 person and 1 gallon of gas!! Low 60's at best IMO

well 405hp is actually quite a bit more then i thought, i do think hes telling stories about the top speed though, lol

no way its hittn 68....i just repowered mine last summer with 535hp and hit 68, spinning a 4 blade 24.

Total BS! Quotes like that really hit me hard on the distrust factor, what else is he lying about? That hull is not meant for speed, 58 at best with that set up.
