Is the opening speed still the same or were you able to make the hatch move any quicker?

I've heard stories of people re-wiring the grounds on the rams which helps speed up the opening/ closing of the engine lid......but I don't remember specifics.

The opening speed is FAST same speed no more frigging clicking the switch a thousand times I went to The Source(Radio Shack) and bought a 4.99 project box two relays found in my tool box or found in any car under the hood...lol some speaker wire all for under 10 bucks OMG ...all these years I'll post a wiring diagram tomorrow but very easy

1KRAFTY1: Do you have a part number for the relays? Where did you mount them?

1KRAFTY1 06-03-2012 08:56 PM

The wiring in the previous post is it ...vista268 go to any automotive parts store ask for two 5 pin relays there will be numbers on the back as the previous post shows. I put them in a small plastic project box from Radio Shack and mounted under the rear seat next to the switches as I have a battery in there also for my Invertor so the wiring was easy ...had my girlfriend on it today and it lifted like nothing. mine was wired slightly different Boatnt as 85 went to ground and 86 to the switch only 87 had power from the battery must be the same but with different terminals used.

Tried Boatnt's schematic and I'm getting a short. Any ideas?

recheck your work...schematic is good

vista268 06-17-2012 06:52 PM

Just finished the re-wire per Boatnt's diagram. Works PERFECT. I would say my up speed is 30 to 40 percent faster and the down speed is easily twice as fast. Very nice improvement and thanks guys for sharing the information. Much appreciated!!!

Pwraddr 06-17-2012 07:22 PM

Where did you guys mount the relays?

vista268 06-17-2012 08:02 PM

I bought a small plastic project box at radio shack and mounted it under my rear seat on the rear bulkhead. I put the inline fuse to the battery in this box as well. That way, if i ever blow a fuse or relay, I can get to it without lifting a dead hatch.

I had bought a couple from them a couple of years ago and they worked good but they discontinued them because some kind of issue ,,but I had good luck with them...

raytart 06-20-2012 09:21 PM

Well... it's installed, but it doen't appear to be any faster than before.

ibhottubn 06-24-2012 09:13 PM

Did mine this weekend, mine was taking 47 seconds to go up before the install. Had to disconnect the negative from the switch at the dash. Now it takes just 15 seconds to go up. Works great !!! I mounted the relays right in front of the ram on the port side of the boat !!!

Pwraddr 06-30-2012 09:26 AM

The relay assembly that Eddie Marine sells is a Cole Hersee part number 24452-BX.
