Need info on 34 Viper
In the market for a new (to me) boat. The 34 Vipers have caught my interest. Looking for comfort as much as speed and these seem to be a good fit. Looking at a 2000 - 2002 models. What are the good and bad points? Any inherint problems (transom rot, structural issues, etc). What can I expect as far as performance 454 mags, 502s etc. (454 would seem under powered to me) What about ride and stability?
Know I'm asking a of questions lot but any insight is greatly appreciated. |

One with blue motors in Indiana. Ready for a road trip? Don't take Neeter unless you plan to pull it home......she'll love the cabin!:drool1:

Maybe I should have asked how they ride in 20-30 mph winds on KY Lake

The vyper is HUGE compared to most offshores of that length. Cabin space is A LOT.
2001 and up had a hull change that made them all little faster than previous years. They will chine walk a little above 75 (at least in the ones I've been on) I wouldn't consider 7.4 if I were you. 502's will run 74-75. 496's with the right prop will run 80. Again, these are personal experiences, I'm sure there are exceptions. I was real close to buying the boat mentioned earlier in this thread, it is in great shape, I just ended up leaning to the nearly-new boat in perfect shape. |

You'd see 68-70 mph with 454mags, which I would think would feel terribly slow in that hull
