Not a bad starting price? If that's not a scam, it must have history or be a real POS for that kind of money.

The small engines may be the reason why he is trying to let it go for so cheap. He might be having a hard time selling her with that kind of power. Plus, it's the end of the season and he may not want to be bothered with winterizing (did I just say that word?), storing and so on. Might be worth looking into for someone in the market. May end of with a great deal.

AJ POWERPLAY 09-26-2012 05:54 AM

Actually if you're in the market you may want to email the guy... The 454's would bring the value down. You never know why people are selling but sometimes you run into someone hurting for cash. Give him a shout and go look at it.

Sounds like a good price. I paid $39k for my 1997 380 Avenger w/502's and trailer back in May. Other than a little buffing and some upholstry work on the sundeck, it is in excellent condition with 450hrs. We love the boat and have no regrets now that I am comfortable running the twins.

Drive it! Might be one of the really bad F'd up ones with handling problems that wasnt blue printed.

That's the right money on a 98 454 boat. Hate to say it. 40k is it on that one.

Mine is unofficially for sale, just can't decide what my next boat will be? 2001 29' 7.4 mpi's, pm me for more info if you want. Any nice 33-35's boats out there??????? And can't decide what brand? Cig, sonic, AT, Donzi, formula, or another PQ...that's why I have a hard time selling my PQ because I think I have one on the best all around boats for the size but my kids are outgrowing the cabin space, but would like to go a little faster too :evilb:

I wish I could buy and sell a couple boats a year like some guys! :party-smiley-004:

Was it just a matter of blueprinting? I thought the molds were redesigned and the steps were moved back?

AJ POWERPLAY 10-01-2012 05:19 PM

The strakes were ground off I believe about 16" back to fix the early ones... But the 01 and up models may have had the steps moved?

jmackin 10-11-2012 03:46 AM

Strakes were cut off back and they ground out as much of the hook in last 4' of the hull as they could. It made some improvement but still wasnt right. In late 2000 they switched to puting a rocker in the hull to help with the handling problems.

Were the older straight bottom 38s ok
