I need an answer!!!

Looking at a 2000 Vyper with 454 mags. What can I expect for speed?!

Someone either talk me into or out of this boat!

what would be a "i can't pass it up deal" on a 2000 vyper, 454 mags, trailer, 200 hours, fridge, microwave, standard stuff. Looks to be a clean boat.

I think you're looking at a 70mph boat, and I would think $45k or so, any less and that's a lot of boat for the money... I think there is/was a 2000 in good shape with 500EFI's for sale for 50 or so... Who knows, its hard to say

Pwraddr 11-15-2012 07:47 PM

Think AJ is correct on the speed...I personally think finding a boat for 50 or less would be a stretch if it is really nice.

Who knows though, some people need money.

AJ POWERPLAY 11-15-2012 08:03 PM

You could be right values are holding steady and maybe improving. The vypers are very sweet boats I wouldn't hesitate to own one

And I was mistaken I guess the one in the classifieds now is for 69k, the one for 50k was with 500HP carbs and was out of torch lake

Here is the thing, or my opinion, PQ have a unique following. People who want a PQ want a PQ. This said, it helps sellers to a point because they have a commodity that others want.

So, in the end, you buy what you want if you can afford it. I love the Vyper and it is a nice boat with my 2.5 year old daughter. A lot of freeboard, safe and dry, with a nice cabin and ****ter to assist in the potty training.

Good luck with what ever you decide!

Best room in a 33-35 class boat bar none! Great cabin

Pwraddr 11-15-2012 08:25 PM

AJ, I thought about that boat in the classifieds before buying Vyper340 boat. Wasn't wild about the paint scheme and had really no options.

Prowrench also looked at it prior to buying Boatnt Revenge. Said the guy was super nice.

AJ POWERPLAY 11-15-2012 08:46 PM

Yea, I think he is a little high on price being its not an 01+... And Andy G has that one with HO's for the same price that runs 80 with a Bad a$$ myco trailer

Poweraddr you have probably the best vyper built, lots of custom work was put into that boat.... We will have to get together on LSC I'd like to see it

boatnt 11-15-2012 08:52 PM

AJ still thinking of stepping up to 340?

I talked with Andy too! Lol. He has an 01. It had a Eagle trailer though....Last I saw he wanted 69.

Thanks AJ for the compliment. I paid for it too, LOL but my wife wanted it. Dave treated me right, the Air Cond didn't work when it arrived up and I fixed it. When he found out he reimbursed the cash. Also, he found some extra stuff many months after the sale and sent them up to me. Gave me a spare drive too.

I am in the process now of buying a dually and my wife has family that have a place on Torch. So next summer I will be mobile.

Man, we jacked this thread!

Why? He has no kids and a boat that will out run the chit out of a PQ. :evilb:

FANTAZ28 11-15-2012 11:03 PM

I'll be honest... im afraid of the boat not being "sporty" enough and fast enough. I can live with 70 but im afraid of having this big nice boat that only goes 65.

GTOKILLER 11-15-2012 11:49 PM

If its clean it seems like a really good deal at that price.

You will be bored with 70 by the end of the first season.

AJ POWERPLAY 11-16-2012 07:11 AM

I'm thinkin 68-71... But depends on props.

Sounds like you wouldn't be happy with this boat (as powered). Clean, low hours, well equipped, priced right sound like a great deal but reading your posts this isn't really what you're looking for. Hold out for something with top end speed

I'm sure Jake would be willing to trade his power for the 454mags he needs to slow down a bit!!

well i boat 90 percent of the time on the chain of lakes in IL, its shallow and short so im not looking for a 80mph boat to be honest.

70+ and im happy. I went to purchase a 312 fastech a few weeks ago and it wasn't nice as the guy claimed so I came home empty handed after driving 5 hours each way. This boat is about 6-7 hours away from me and I'm trying to avoid a wasted trip.

You just wait and see what I'm doing over the winter:whistle:

and if I can manage it I may bring the boat east in July:cartman:

Best of luck in your search. PQ is a quality boat and like everyone has mentioned has lots of room for a go-fast. Power, props, etc. can always be changed!

OP, how much are you willing to spend?
