Semi Project PQ
|
I don't know the boat, but I would not mind building the custom interior for it since PQ is no longer around.
XT |
Looks like a weekend project for Boatnt.
|
I think the price is very high for that project. You should be able to find a 260PQ complete for less than 20k. Just as an example the one in the link below is asking 22k and looks nice. You will have at least 10k into that 9k boat before you are done.

Looks clean, but with 338hrs, just in time for a top end, so add another $2500 on top of that.

338 hours is nothing for a 454 MAG. Unless a leakdown test shows otherwise, that motor is good for many, many more hours before opening it up.
No reason why you cant get 1000-1200 hours out of that engine,,,as long as its left alone/stock and regular oil changes... |

That motor is Bulletproof and needs nothing but oil changes & filters . |
Yup, 700 + hours on my stock 502 MPI MAGS which should be comparable service life wise to 454 mags. I never had them opened up and they run as good as they did when I got them at 230 hours. Just normal maintance. I'm sure there are plenty of people that " Freshen there engines prematurely and have more issues after the fact if it's not done by someone reputable. jmo

It was for sale all last year. Imco extreme drive, whatever you want for power. Buy it for $7500, put another 10-15k into it and have a brand new boat for 20k. If you have the time and resources it would be fun
|
i would pass for that money... just the obvious is going to really cost you, and then there is always the not so obvious that sneaks up on you... which sometimes ends up costing more :lolhit:
why is it in that condition in the first place? have you made contact with the owner? |
Not yet, wanted to see if anyone here knew the boat first. I've been chatting with Glassdave, if I'm gonna buy it, he's gonna convert it to a bow rider and I'll put in my own power.
|
Ohh man... You may as well go with the original bowrider if you're going to out that much money into it, glass Dave does great work but wow are you going to pay for something like that. I mean, you could easily go way above and beyond the boats worth in a heartbeat. But in the end, its what you want, don't let anyone tell you how to spend your money.

260 BR are like a needle in a haystack.

No bolsters and priced...well, interestingly priced. Screw the BR and go 290! http://www.boattrader.com/listing/19...icer-102001539 |
Have to agree with Knot... The 290 will have a ton of room, and it'd be about the same to convert if need be, so why not have the only 290 bowrider??
|
I've talked with this owner several times. It would be an ok deal for a couple grand less. The drive is 1.36 so not right for this boat, the hatch and rear seat back are not there, and I'm not a huge fan of the paint work (was repainted, thats why its stripped). had it been a 290 I would have picked it up but a 26 might be a tough sale when done. Be the 20s for sure by the time your done.
|
I don't want anything bigger than a 26, I was really pushing it with the 29' Lavey so I'd rather be within the range my tow package can handle. I didn't go outside my lake very often with my 29 unless there were several other boat owners going and we switched vehicles. Never wanted to take the risk on the highway.
The 26 sit down on boattrader is nice, but the guy is on crack for asking for $50k. http://www.boattrader.com/listing/20...end-SLS-348951 |
Even if I offered them $17k and they took it, it would take $10k in work to get the in/exteriors up to snuff and if he beat it that bad on the in/exteriors, he probably beat the engine and drive too. Shame, had he taken care of it, it would have been perfect.
