What are you towing 340 Vypers with?
I've got a 2002 Ford F350 7.3 Diesel 3.73 rear and tow in hilly areas and have towed a 31 Sonic around which weighs in at 7,000 lbs. On the big hills, that 7,000 lbs was a bit tough to keep going up to the top. The auto really needs another gear. The Vyper is a taller larger boat and says it weighs in at 7500lbs... Is that a true number? It sure looks big on the trailer. Anyway, what are you towing Vypers with in the hilly areas. If I lived in the flat lands, I'd be buying a 38 footer without question!
Thanks everyone! |
Hello, I use a one ton dually Ford Powerstroke 6.0.
There is a thread on weights in here but mine is just shy of 6 ton. |
|
That answers my question... Back to the drawing board!
Thanks guys!!! |
Your truck should pull 6 ton without any issue...shocked to hear that it struggles with 3.5 ton.

Your truck will tow a 34 or 38 that sits on a good condition trailer and the trucks in good condition. I use a cummins ram to tow 50 ft 3/4 car trailer through every mountain pass in the country. Weighing 25-30,000lbs daily.

3.73 rear is the killer.... scale weights from the link above for the vyper shows a lot more weight than the 31 sonic loaded with trailer... I could go a little more weight but those numbers are a little more than I think I'd be comfortable with....
Again, appreciate your time guys! |
I think the point is that your rig should pull without issue.

I just pulled my '96 340 from lower Michigan last week with my '09 Chevy 2500HD, Duramax/Allison. The winning combo. Set the cruise at 74 and it pulled like a dream at 9 1/2 miles to the gallon...
