Last year for 340 vyper?
Can anyone tell me what was the last year Powerquest made the vyper. I have seen a 2005 listed for sale but never anything newer.
|
Believe 05. Had a purchase agreement signed on an 05 but backed out after the sea trial. Also heard rumors that towards the end their quality started to suffer, don't know if it's true but when lack of money is involved it makes sense.
|
Thankyou
So maybe 05 for the vyper and I think 07 for the revenge ? |
Boatnt will know on the revenge, check back tomorrow.
|
I think they made an 07 or 08 revenge when the old owner took bsck over but couldnt make a go of the company
|
the one in the classified is the last 300 that was made,,it was made in 05 and when the new then owner took over he finished it and sold it. as a 07..
|
So what is the last model year Vyper??? '05???
|
Thankyou everyone.
That's very interesting about that so called 07 300 that is infact a 05. Way way back the serial number which included the modle year was in the gel coat of a boat I had. Not a PQ. I guess that's not done anymore, or just not in powerquest? Does anyone have any comments about 300 Revenge vs 340 Vyper? |
Yes the HIN contains the MY.
What "comments" are you looking for between the 2? |
Thankyou, well I'm interested in getting a pq but am on the fence between the 300 and the 340.
Wondering if k planes are or should be an issue vs other makers. Had a pump out porta potti in the past, never used, vs enclosed head. If both boats had 496 ho with bravo 1 x drives how would the differ? Handleing, speed, mileage, comfort. I think 1000 lbs differance and 4 feet. Vyper probably much deeper. Sorry, full of questions. Feel a vyper may be some what less abused?? slightly more family?? not sure. |
Similar speed with HO's... Around 80.
Room goes to the Vyper, not taking anything from the revenge bc they have a ton of room for a 30' boat and the V birth actually is a tad longer in the revenge. I would prefer k-planes bc i run Lk MI and Lk Erie sometimes and i cant imagine getting caught out there without them when it kicks up... I dont have an enclosed head but man they are nice, im sure once u have one you dont go back. Its really a toss up, i hear the 300 handles better, and its also the only twin step hull PQ made that was designed to be a twin step hull... The others (vyper/avenger) were straight hulls that had steps added later on. Not sure if it makes any difference, just food for thought. PQ is a great boat, especially the two you are considering, i wouldnt hesitate to own another... And may eventually end up in a 380 who knows |
I just posted a link to a nice 300 in the PQ section
|
I can't talk much about the differences between the 340 and 300, but I can talk about 380's to 300. The 380 is just a few feet longer than the 340 but basically the same. The stand up head is the best thing going for it. my next boat will have one. I would not own a 300 without k-planes, this last weekend we were in some pretty confused waters in the Bay of Green Bay, the 300 was coming up about 4 feet short on all the waves and we were taking a pretty good pounding, slowed down a little dropped the planes all was good. The 300 with HO's I think will be faster by a few MPH. My 300 with HO's is faster than a 380 with 500EFI's, by a few MPH. Always nice to be the fastest boat in the group, you only have to show them once or twice and they don't give you chit anymore. 292 formula's are my favorite, they act all surprised:lolhit:. I think the 340 would have the advantage in the rough, but I have been in some pretty rough stuff and not worried, this last weekend was the first time I did like the feel and what I was seeing. Like I said the water was really confused, it would be broad side, then head on, other side etc. short wave length then long just nothing consistent to deal with.

I'll tell you there is no replacement for displacement and that is meant for both size and power!!
If your pondering the two I would go for the 340. The head is a nice feature with a porcelain toilet, hot shower, the air is nice when its 90 degrees out, and the room in the cuddy......well that's another story!! The 300 would probably feel like a hotrod no doubt.....until a 525 efi Avenger goes by it .........but that's another story as well..... |

Geez, a guy gets by one powerquest with a dirty bottom, heavy on fuel, loaded up with passengers and going the wrong direction into the wind and waves and he is ready to take on the world. :party-smiley-004:

I ran Tim's (now verbie69's) 380 as well as Tim's 340 with 500s and I honestly liked the 340 better. As far as handling that is. Dont get me wrong i wish i had the money at the time to buy his 380, but to me the 340 just seemed to be lighter and more agile than i thought the difference would be. Never been in a 300 but i can say i wouldnt hesitate to trade my top gun for a 340. Very nice boat!

I have a feeling everything is always for sale, tom...
|
That's interesting.
I love the way the 380 handles for the most part. The boat does have a very long nose that on occasion grabs wind and needs a little bit of driver input to correct. The boat carves hard like it is on rails with no sliding whatsoever, and can be thrown around like a 28 footer. If the 340 seems better then wow, that would be a very cool ride. Trade your Top Gun for a Fountain Express Cruiser so we could trade boats!:lolhit: Ps: I had the Bravo 1's modified and now there is zero blowout when accelerating from a dead stop!! |

Just as far as i felt. As far as anything else, you have the nicest boat pq ever built. If i ever end up with a 48 express with triple 480s and arnesons there will be no trading going on. Lol
I've never had the opportunity to ride in a 340 and by your description sounds like it would be an awesome ride! |
Wannawave....
Like a few others here...I have a 340 that I plan to sell. It is an early boat but in pristine condition. http://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/boa/3939764480.html Jeff |
