Newbie to the powerquest family, legend 257
Hello fellow powerquest owners, I am new to this website and a new powerquest owner.
I bought a 1993 legend 257 502 mag, 319 hours, boat seems well maintained and has no issues that I can see SO FAR! lol
I have a couple questions, anything I need to look that are known trouble areas with the boat and engine combo? Also I am looking for a cockpit cover, any ideas where a guy can get one? all the snaps are on the boat just missing the cover itself.
Also if anyone would happen to know, as I am taking her out this weekend for my first time, what should I expect to see as far as speed with this boat and the 415 HP 502?
thanks in advance,
Steve

Where at in Illinois are you? I would just have a canvas place make a new cover for you. They will fit the cover snaps to your boat's snaps. PQ's main achilles heel is the wiring. They did a lot of pig tailing to supply power at the dash as opposed to using bus bars.
Congrats on the new ride!

I live in northern Illinois between Rockford and Chicago, thanks for the tip on the canvas I did call a local place that quoted me 900 bucks.... (
I have tried most switches and gauges everything seems to work, I was told when I bought it the gas guage was "jumpy" so we'll see about that. I question weather or not the trim tabs work, I know the indicator does NOT work.

Josh's old boat in spring valley? If so great buy. I know a couple people were looking but never pulled the trigger . Definitely nothing wrong with it. Congrats on a nice boat!

I used to see a sharp white/red/grey 257 on the river all the time.

Happy to report that the new (new to me!) legend 257 ran flawlessly over the weekend, and actually the 502 did a fair Job on fuel as long as I kept out of the 4 barrel! lol So with all that said I can move on to the cosmetics of the boat, the gel coat shines very nice still for her age 8.5 out of 10 i'd say, however the stripes are "plan jane" its a dark DARK plum color with a smaller silver stripe, which is fine, BUT I want to somehow brighten things up abit, the interror is VERY nice with lots of grey and bright purple, I was thinking of making the large plum color stripe match the bright purple interror color... any ideas? paint? vinal graphic? anyone try this before? Thanks again in advance )
