The event was a HUGE success! Comments like: "One of the BEST runs I've been on", and "Great event, count us in for next year" were rampant.
We raised over $ 103,000.00 for the St. Jude Childrens Research Hopspital, we had 59 boats (I think) registered for for the Poker Run. Out of towners had LOTS of eye candy; see this thread on the Donzi net:

I think everyone involved is still trying to clear out the cobwebs and sort everything out. I expect to see LOTS of posts abot this event.
For those of you that didn't come to Va. Beach / Norfolk for this event; you REALLY missed a fun weekend.

More to follow. . . . . . . .

The 2002 St. Jude's Children Hospital/Little Creek Regatta was a great time!! The Poker Run portion went extremely well and the weather cooperated nicely, although a bit on the warm side at 95+ degrees.

We started the nearly 100 mile run at 10AM from the Little Creek, VA basin. The next stop was Rudee Inlet on the south end of the Virgina Beach resort beaches. That allowed all the boats to explore ocean waves and views (next stop the Bahamas...:D ) and give the thousands of tourists on the beach a great show. After that card stop, the track was reversed along the ocean front to the Narrows in Broad Bay. The ocean and the Chesapeake Bay were smooth and provided for a spirited 70+ mph ride for many of the boats. In fact, most boats ran in 55+ range for most of the legs! After a lunch at Marina Shores it was off to Hampton, VA and then to Nauticus in downtown Norfolk. There was a summer festival at Towne Pointe Park so when the all the boats arrived it was quite a specticle for the land lubbers!!:D

Another spectacular thing was seeing the mighty battleship Wisconsin sitting at Nauticus, reminding us all about the umbrella of freedom that we have to enjoy our toys. Then it was back to Little Creek for a spirited night of partying with the regatta teams and all of the sponsors!!!

All in all it was a GREAT day, GREAT Poker Run with great boaters, and most of all we all helped raise over $100k for the cancer treatment, research and hospital, St. Jude's!:D

I would HIGHLY recommend this event to other OSO'ers out there. It is well worth the trip (by water or by land) and the generosity of the facilities at every stop/location were second to none. Sign up and make the trip with us next year!

Well said my PQ brethren! I believe our first year of official sponsorship went over quite well. I think it is safe to say that everyone involved is definitely looking forward to next year and raising the bar again.

Dave, I especially enjoyed the 70+mph romp across the bay right next to you so my brother could see what MY boat looks like runnin' in the (almost) rough stuff! :D

Congratulations to all!!!!

Sounds great, and that's a lot of $$$$ for St. Judes. I'd gladly pay your $250 registration fee considering how it benefits a charity.

Just may have to reconsider the 14-15 hour tow down next year!

The registration was only $ 75.00!!!!!
Talk about a bargain!!!!

Here is some of the boats at the start.
Now if I only had a WIDE angle lens. This pic only has about 1/4 of the participating boats.
