2005 PQ Silencer propping

Recently purchased an 05 Silencer and was hoping to attain some input on propping it. Current setup 496HO with B1 and 1.5 gear ratio. When I did my water test boat had a bravo 22 on it. Max at WOT was 60-61 on gps and hit the rev limiter I believe that is 5200.

I am thinking a bravo 26 is right but am unsure any input?

Note just to consider when I pull it back to my state in the spring I plan on doing some exhaust porting and a Whipple stage 2 ECM reflash. If anyone has results with these items done I would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks

I don't think you should touch the motor at this point. You're already hitting the rev limiter. Exhaust porting a 496 is not worth the time and forget the re-flash. work with props and maybe a lower drive 1st, Save for a complete rebuild with a crankshaft in the list or a different motor

I believe they came from the factory with a B1 24 pitch prop.

Yes, came with 24" B1. Best prop I tried on mine 1999 502 efi , CMI headers ( which did just about nothing ) was a labbed 26" B1 I got from BBlades. Also a 1" drive spacer. Shade under 70, 69.5 GPS, light load.

I am not familiar with the drive spacer although I have seen a lot of PQ guys mention this (This is my first one). I assume this puts your drive deeper and helps with the "X" dimension? When you did this was anything else needed other than the spacer? What type of costs were you looking at? Fricking headers nothing but dock bling, did the same thing on with my last boat and gained nothing but a $6K bill after being installed.

Thanks for the info much appreciated

Yes, spacer puts the drive deeper in the water. Probably find one in classifieds, comes with the longer bolts.
