They're back in Grand Rapids this weekend with a new build 380. Come check out the NEW 2019 Powerquest 380 and meet the owner Neil Wallace at the Grand Rapids, Mi Boat Show going on now. Also, taking orders for the following models: 260, 280, 300, 340, 380, 280sc & 320sc. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...39c3344c96.jpg

Neil and crew did an outstanding job on the new 380. As good as it looked in white I can’t wait to see it after Dave@T&D works his wizardry on it. |
Saw this today and to put it nicely it is a "work in progress"??
|
A work in progress? How so? Because it wasn't 100% finished?

Not what I would expect from an exhibit trying to drum up business. |
It's a catch 22. When suppliers take longer than expected and it pushes the whole build behind. Do you work day and night to get it together as much as possible and display it since you literally have hundreds of thousands invested or scrap it and say maybe next year? I could see your point if it were missing key pieces like drives, engines, cockpit interior, but missing a couple cabin trim/interior pieces isn't a big deal. Maybe he should have shut the cabin door then people would have cried about that.

Saw a few other things that made me wonder besides being unfinished.
Still hoping that they begin building quality boats again. Some cool features, ideas, and updates. It was getting plenty of attention. |
Im willing to bet the layup on that boat is better than any PQ ever built.
|
Have thought about this and cannot help but comment the amount of money that it took to get this boat company back up and running and now bring a boat to a boat show and was not quite finished so what. From the comments I seen from several people they were impressed. I’m sure things will be different next year your doing an awesome job Neal Wallace!!,

I was in Miami for the boat show in Feb '05 when NorTech had the first 39 vee there on display. That boat too was not completely finished, especially in the cabin area. You could see, however, what the boat was going to be once they got the finishing touches wrapped up so I didn't feel it was a mistake to bring a not quite yet finished boat to the show.
How do those front bolsters look in person? Those stand out to me in the photos. Bases look a little flimsy. |

I actually have been involved with a few boats at boatshows installing somethings before and during the show.
Also been to boatshows that interior was being installed during the show and so forth - including Miami Boatshow. |

so is it a Saberquest? i'd rather have this new one, Saber lay up is bullet proof. top notch lay up at a production boat price. |
i was there alot as i had doug helping me rig and install my new engines. looks like it was laid up the same as a Saber. balsa coring everywhere and with dougs 30 plus years of building some of the strongest hulls out there.
