Shore Power
 

I am adding shore power to the boat and was wondering what side the factory installed it on a 28. I guess it doesn't make any differance or does it?

On 340/380's the distribution panel is on the port side as is the shore power coupler. Makes sense!

My 28 had it on the port side as well.

I see that you have a 280 silencer. I am looking to order a 280 with a 496HO engine. Would you like to direct me to a dealer that I could get the best deal for this boat ? I live in Grand Rapids, Mi. Dealer around me wants $80,000 or more just for a base boat, no options.

We bought a left-over 1999 in February of 2000, from Pier 33 in Hudsonville. They are now out of business, as I understand it. The boat stickered for somewhere in the 80's, we paid $53K without a trailer.

Our 280 had a 502, shorepower, freshwater sink, custom Sunbrella camper top + bimini (not the vinyl junk PQ uses). We sold the boat about a year and half ago.

From what I've heard, the new PQ dealer in Michigan - Skipper Buds (?) - wants an awful lot of money for their boats. No way would I pay $80K for the same boat I bought for just over $50K a couple years ago. I understand inflation, but not that much! I've also heard some rumblings about new PQs not being built to the same standards as the older ones, but that could just be the usual crap you hear around the dock. *shrug*

I've always looked at PQ as sort of a "poor man's Formula." The products match up fairly well, and the PQ had good quality for a lot less money than the Formula's excellent quality (and much more money). That was a big reason we bought our 280. From what I've seen of the pricing on new PQs, you can get into a Formula for the same or even less money than a new PQ. If I was in the market, that's what I'd be looking at Formula before I would a new Powerquest. Of course, a slightly used boat is the best deal of all... (ask me about the hit I took when I sold the boat :rolleyes: )
