Pq Rally

Has anyone ever talked to Powerquest about them hosting a PQ owners rally/ weekend rendezvous?
Maybe in Holland, giving us PQ owners the opportunity to get together and have our own fun run weekend event. I know Sunsation has a Poker run weekend for Sunsation owners only. Being PQ's are made here in MI and are very common thru - out the midwest I would think it would be a great marketing idea for PQ.
What's everybody's thoughts on this???

It has been discussed before but no action on PQ's side.

BillR 09-18-2003 11:29 AM

Actually I think there will be one. I have heard talk of it from PQ.

JeffGrice 09-18-2003 11:37 AM

That would be great...being on Lake St. Clair and no trailer personally I would like to see it on this side of the state....but how about an east/west event.

Jeff

Vyper340 09-20-2003 06:19 AM

Hey BillR, don't we have one every weekend here??? LOL :)

Wildman1 09-22-2003 08:58 PM

Guys: I when to the Sunsation Rally this past summer on Lake St. Clair. They put on one heck of a show for the owners. I think we should all get together next year and do the same. The rally was held at Metro Beach marina. That place is awesome. It remind me of the inter-coastal waterway in Florida. The wife and myself sat on the benches at Metro beach and watch all the boats going out to the main part of the lake. Somebody set a date for next summer and lets all get together. The world famous Blondes Preferred boat will be there. Wildman 1

SUMMER RALLY

Wildman,
Lake St. Clair and Metro Beach is a great place to hold a owner's rally. I know there are alot of PQ's with in trailering or running distance. I am going to call Mandy at PQ today and suggest the idea to her. Even if PQ doesn't want to get involved we could do it on our own. I live and boat on LSC myself and I have some connections at the park.
Does anybody have any suggestions for a possible date? June, July, or August? Last summer things didn't really warm up until around mid- June or so.

Wildman1 09-25-2003 07:14 PM

PQ Rally Date

Guys: How does everyone feel about the end of July or the First of August. I am open to either date. We differently got to make this happen next year. I still believe the Metro Beach area is the right place to have it. There are plenty of Motels around there to stay at. Most of them are only one exit down I-94 and the restaurants are locate there also. Somebody take the lead up in the Michigan area. I'll bring the boys from the Cincinnati and Kentucky area. Viper 340 should bring the boys from the Virginia area. Let's make this happen. Wildman 1 aka Blondes Preferred

One more idea

I forgot something. The owners of Sunsation rented out all the slips at the marina for the owner Friday and Saturday night. They had over 65 boats there that weekend. Pq might did that but I should would like one of those slips. Let's get our heads together. Boating season was to short for me this year. I need something exciting to look forward to next year. PQ Rally

I am very interested in attending a rally. The dates end of July early August sound great. I do boat in Grand Haven, MI but would make the trip over to Metro if that is the preferred location. If Powerquest gets involved they may want to host out of Holland seeing that is where the factory is located. That would not disappointment me but we'll have to see what PQ is open to. I live in Grand Rapids about 30 minutes from PQ factory so if you need me to help coordinate anything on this side of the state let me know. I am more than willing to go talk to Mandi on behalf of everyone if necessary.

It's about time something like this happened for PQ owners.

Enticer Rick 09-26-2003 06:32 AM

I'd be interested in the rally. I live in Harrison Township, MI (Metro Beach-Venetian Canal). Would prefer to have it on my side of the state, but I might be willing to trailer to Grand Haven, Holland area. I also have another buddy that lives down the same canal and I know a few guys that rack store that might be interested if it's on this side of the state. Lots of PQ's on Lake St Clair.......

Rick

BillR 09-26-2003 06:36 AM

Mandi and Mark have been working on something like this. It probably didn't happen this year due to poor business for ALL hi perf. boat mfgs.

Vyper340 09-26-2003 10:43 AM

Metro is a great spot for a rally. I used to love going to that area as well as some of the great old places like Brownie's in St, Clair Shores.

Enticer Rick 09-26-2003 11:03 AM

Brownies is now called Beach Grill. Great place to party, outside deck, good bands and wild times. Very close to Metro Beach.

Kentz 09-26-2003 11:29 AM

Steve, I'll be right behind you!. What do you think 7-8hrs towing? ROAD TRIP:D :D :D

Wildman1 09-26-2003 04:49 PM

Road trip

Kentz: Dave the dude and scott jones make it up there in just under five hours to Metro Beach. If they have it at holandMich. it took me just about 6.5 hours to the factory.(about 340 miles) . Both pulls are easy. All flat ground going up. I preferred metro beach because of the slips there that are aviable to rent. Lets everyone decide, I am open. Wildman1 aka Blondes preferred

BillR 09-27-2003 06:42 AM

Personally, I think it should be held here in Va Beach. :)

Actually it would be fun, get those boats off the lakes and rivers and see what "Offshore" really is about.

Vyper340 09-28-2003 09:47 AM

Why is it called Beach Grill???? There's no beach near it! Rock grill would have been more appropriate...

On the last weekend in June every year, the Great Lakes Silver Cup Series makes it stop at Metro Beach. If we can get atleat 1 row of finger docks reserved it would be a great chance for alot of out of state people that are coming the distance a chance to see alot of nice race boats. Last year they even held a poker run on Saturday which was open to anyone, then the main races are held on Sunday. For 2004 the dates will be June 25-26-27th. Just an idea !!!
I have enclosed a pix of my Avenger in one of the slips with a view of the finger docks in the background.

Mr. Powerquest 09-30-2003 07:11 AM

I have reviewed all the information and I agree completely. It is true Mark & I were working on it and just ran out of time this year. The location is also a concern. It will impossible to the slips needed anywhere around here in June, July or August. I like the Metro Beach idea, I was just there a few weekends ago for the show. It is a quick run out to the lake and there are tons of slips. A great park for the family. Large parking lot for trucks and trailers and the hotels are close. In the next couple weeks, I will try and contact them and see what weekends they have open and see how it coordinates with our schedule of factory events. I will continue to keep you all posted. Also if you have any ideas or suggestions for the event, feel free to email me at [email protected]
Thanks,
Mandi

Hey Duoprop Enticer,
I never new about that website. I just winterized and stored my 380 Avenger or else I would go. If you or anybody else is going and has room for an extra body please let me know. That's a beautiful part of the state and with all the trees turning colors should make for a nice day out on the water.

PQ RALLY UPDATE

I talked with Metro Beach and Mandi at PQ. Looks like the factory is going to make a go of this this coming summer. Probably late June or sometime in August. Slips at Metro Beach run $23 for 24 hour period, or go by 8 hour shifts. We are going to try and secure 2 finger docks, each will hold 26 boats. Will post more info as it becomes available. If anyone has questions regarding hotels, directions, or anything at all please feel free to give me a call at 248-866-2530. You can also go to www.metroparks.com for additional park ingo and pixs.
