PQ Rally Ideas

I am working on putting at least one rally together that will include everyone nationwide. I need some ideas from all of you.
What do you want to see?
What do you want to do?
What do you want to eat?
Do you want it to start on Friday night or Sat?
I have several ideas, but I would like to know what you want to do.

Let me know any suggestions that you may have. I will accept them all (may not use them all).

Thank you,
Mandi

I think that is a great idea. Baja did this at a poker run for us at Lake Cumberland w/a houseboat. It was great. Food, drinks, cigar's, t-shirts, and demo's. Just some idea's.

ChrisK 10-13-2003 10:23 PM

Where would this be for one? and waht time of year?.... Friday night could be a "pre=party" type of thing with sat and sunday the "main"days.... I dont think to many people will compaon about the food as long as its good whatever it is... Maybe a Poker run of some sorts, a show for the best non-factory mods? Basically just a good ole reason for PQ owners to party and get together.

RALLY

Thought I'd get this back up on the radar.
I'd like to see lot's of FREE PQ stuff, a poker run, sat. night party, maybe a tech session, and something I like to do every chance I get, a sunsation butt wippin contest.

PQ RALLY

Right now the weekend of Aug 13-15th has been suggested. We have a few people on board but would like to get as many as possible. The location is Metro Beach on Lake St. Clair, about 30 minutes north of Detroit. We can make this a weekend get together, even if PQ decides to only put on a Saturday event, this way anyone pullin from the area can make the most out of their trip. Lake St. Clair has some great waters to boat on, many short trips, bars and restaurants on the water, the St. Clair River and Detroit river to cruise up and down, and the park is perfect for this type of event. So come on guys (and gals) let's show the factory how much interest we have in this event by posting as many replies as you can on this thread. The sooner we show them enough interest the sooner they can lock in a date and get the ball rolling...
Go to www.metroparks.com for further info on park. Click on parks at top and select Metro Beach. There's a map of the entire park showing all the amenities, such as beach, fun zone for kids, golf course, launch facility, and others. We would be staying in the North Marina at the finger docks. If you have any questions feel free to contact me at 248-866-2530, Michael. I live very close to park and boat there all summer long.
Hope to see all of you this summer and check out your PQ's...

For a nation wide event Michigan is not the best location. I t would seem somewhere like lake Cumberland or a similar location. Just a thought.

Hey Mandi! Glad to see that you are still wanting to get a PQ rally together. I know we have several customers who would love it. Have you given any thought to Lake of the Ozarks? I know a lot of people who have boated there and loved it. Sadly, our attempts at the the Thanksgiving run to Catalina with our customers seem to have fizzeled out. Three of the boats that were to be going are sitting at the dealership getting pro-charged. Looks like it might end up as a spring run, or we may just do the Poker Run up in Havasu with them all again come March/April. I need to find someone who can make a copy of a video tape that came to us courtesy of MarineMax/SeaRay. They do a rally every year for the western region at Lake Powell. Tom's 290 was in the video prior to him trading up to the 340. Lot of shots of the boat, as well as some good ideas for how they do their rally. Best of all, it was their marketing video at last years boat show. In any case, PokerRun pictures are in the way to you via US Mail today. Let me know if you have any questions.

Mr. Powerquest 11-26-2003 02:25 PM

Thanks for the info. Steph. I look forward to getting it. Maybe we should tie an event in with the Havasu run. Isn't there one in April that you guys usually do?

How many people would be interested in an event there? It would be in addition to the event I am planning here in the summer.

Everyone have a great Thanksgiving.

dyno 11-29-2003 05:19 PM

where do you sell most of your boats??? West Michigan!! nuff said...I think you need to put a bunch of stuff in the water so we can take demo rides.....you cant convince me to buy one if I cant ride in a few....I've been at the Open House several times but you need them in the water. Skipper buds has the Searay deal something like that would be cool.

Fast Forward 11-29-2003 09:32 PM

I agree with Dyno. Your largest market from what I've seen is in you own backyard. Why go out of the area. As far as demo rides go, that would need to be a must. I'm going to start working on the wife to move up over the winter and what better way to seal the deal than with a test ride. Ours does the job for now, but we all know bigger is better! Plus now that I bought a new F-150 we have the towing power to move to a 28.

Southbound35 11-30-2003 08:20 AM

I also agree w/Dyno. You need to have it somewhere close. At least the midwest or central US. I would love to go to Havasu but I really don't want to spend the 2 days towing the boat just to get there. It's December now and I have followed this thread or "idea for a rally/get together" for sometime. I look forward to meeting other PQ owners and checking out other PQ boats.
However, Shouldn't we start to see some concrete plans by now. Mandy, You have helped so many PQ owners, Do you need help from us? We are all ready to help with whatever you need.

I can't talk or read about a get together any longer!!!

I am ready to sign up!

Gary C 12-04-2003 09:33 AM

I would actually consider coming, but I would need to make it longer than a weekend. I have a little distance to cover:) I bought my boat from Skipper Buds so I've been out there before. Are there any nice places to stay on the water with boat docking close to where you would have the rally. I agree boat demos would be a great idea!

Wildman1 12-08-2003 08:13 PM

Hey Guys : I agree with the other posters Lake of the Ozarks with be great. If nobody has ever been there , there is 49 bars go go to on the lake. Last count we have been to 15. Going to make the rest before I diedHAHA!!!!!!!!!!! Regardless of where they have it we got to do a Rally we can't let Sunsation out do us PQ owners. Besides my best friend has a 32 and it rides like a skip jack going across the water. Hold onto your false teeth because they are going overboard if your don't. Blondes preferred

Bob280Silencer 12-20-2003 02:03 PM

Lake of the Ozarks sounds doable,30 min N of Detroit,NOT! But like the man said, where do you sell most of your boats?Would like to get together with other PQ owners, there's only about 4 in the whole state.BOB

KSFLYER1 12-21-2003 12:36 PM

Never been to LOTO. Would definately go if there was a rally. Also living in SouthWest MI, Lake MI would be great, and close to the factory. No Havasu for me.

Bob280Silencer 12-25-2003 11:39 AM

LOTO sounds great. The wife & I were thinking about a trip up there this summer anyway.Thats my vote!Merry Christmas & safe boating!!BOB

Mr. Powerquest 12-29-2003 07:59 AM

I hope that all of you had a Merry Christmas.
I am working on putting things together. I can tell you that it will not be LOTO. It will be in MI. I am still looking for a few locations. Would like to have it on the west side of the state, because we could incoporate tours of the factory etc. The east side of the state has more marinas that can handle a good number of boats. I will keep you posted on what I find out.
Thank you for all of your input.
Keep it coming.
Mandi

We will plan on attending (34' Vyper). West Michigan is fine - we do it every weekend. But would be willing to trailer anywhere in mid west for a fun event!

Powerquest Rally

Hi Mandy,

Me and my family want to attend the rally and are
ready to trailer our 2003 340 Vyper. We are coming from
Massapequa, Long Island N.Y. However the last dates I
heard about were AUGUST 13th thru 15th. Well I know
AUGUST is a way off and it is snowing while Im writing
this but in order to get away from business the earlier
I can make this plans the better.

Thanks

Jeff

Mandi,
I vote for West Michigan, or maybe Traverse Bay(in case our favorite body of water is uncooperative) the new city marina has 300 slips, lots of cool stops in the bay or zip up to Charlevoix, Petoskey?

RALLY

FINALLY A PQ RALLY. :D . I HAVE TALKED TO DIFFERENT PEOPLE OVER THE LAST 7 YEARS ABOUT THIS, AND I AM GLAD TO SEE THAT IT MAY FINALLY TAKE PLACE. LOTO IS FUN BUT NO WHERE NEAR THE FACTORY FOR TOURS. HAS ANY ONE THOUGHT OF ANYWHERE AROUND MICHIGAN CITY IN. CLEAR TO HOLLAND MI. JUST REMEMBER TO KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR DATES NOT TO CONFLICT WITH THE LOTO SHOOTOUT. OR ANY THING ELSE BIG. I LEAVE ONLY 5 HOURS AWAY FROM HOLLAND SO NO BIG PROBLEM FOR US TO SHOW UP. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE BOATS IN THE WATER FOR TEST DRIVES AND TEC. QUESTIONS, THAT HELPS EVERYONE, EVEN IF SOME OF US WON'T ADMIT IT.
I HAVE A 290 KNOW AND WANT TO DRIVE A 38 SO HOPEFULLY THIS WILL WORK OUT. I WOULD ALSO BE GLAD TO HELP IN ANY WAY THAT IS POSSIBLE SO PLEASE KEEP US INFORMED.

performancemary 02-02-2004 10:03 PM

I just opened this up and think it is a fantistic idea. I have been into PQ for about 5 years and seldome find others. Out here in Minnesota there just aren't many around. Hell, we don't enen have a dealer. Naturally I would perfer to see this thing on the west side of Michigan but it probally makes sence to have it near the factory. I agree with the idea of having several boats available for test runs. It would be great to compare notes with other owners.
This thing should start Friday night with a casual get togeather, Sat should be a poker run ending at the factory with a party following. Sunday ?????
I have been thinking of trading my Viper in for a 38, what an oppturnity to check it out!!!!

Mr. Powerquest 02-11-2004 03:58 PM

I continue to thank you for all of your input. I have seen several of you at shows over the past few weeks. I have been making my rounds and still many places to go. I have been working on it a little bit in my time off from the road. I do plan to keep it in Michigan. I hope to secure a location in the next month and go from there. Continue to send me info and I will continue to keep you updated.

Thanks,
Mandi

Gary C 02-12-2004 07:37 AM

Mandi,
Do you have any firm dates yet? We're thinking of making the trek from Long Island, and would like to start making plans:)

Mr. Powerquest 02-16-2004 01:14 PM

I don't have firm dates yet. I will post as soon as I do.

Thanks,
Mandi

Mr. Powerquest 03-17-2004 01:48 PM

YEA! I am back.
I finally got my membership purchased and I back from Shows, vacation all that good stuff.

Update on Rally - yes I am still working on putting something together. I am looking at August and do not have the dates nailed down. I am working on a couple different venues right now.
I should have more information by the end of the week.
I will keep you posted.

Mandi
