TOP DECK Graghics. Input.

PQ is getting close to finishing the work on my 260. They are asking what kind of graphics I want on the top deck. Remember my boat has gran prix graphics on the hull sides in Blk, Yel, Grn.

Boat has a windscreen now.

I will take any other ideas also.

Thanks Jan

This is what I have told PQ to do, in Yellow and fade to blk or grn, which ever they think will look the best.

And this is what Mark suggested.

Vyper340 11-05-2003 12:28 PM

I like that one Jan! Have them do some checkerboard to match the sides if they can.

BTW, how did you get them to paint the deck and are they being reasonable about the charges?

Jan 11-05-2003 01:58 PM

I had the optional deck graphics in gel on the deck they replaced, so part of the deal was to put new graphics on the deck.

Pricing on all work was a compromise between both parties.

Jan,
I like the POWERQUEST on the faring. I would run the checkerboard down the middle, with a yellow and green stripe next to it. Like the one that you picked except I wouldn't have the off centered graffic. But, I like a symetrical look.

Enticer Rick 11-05-2003 03:41 PM

Is the fairing going to be painted? Mine is white, I'm thinking it's kinda boring. I like the first graphics you picked out for the deck (adding checkerboard into it).

BillR 11-05-2003 04:50 PM

I like the one Mark suggested but with a painted fairing.

The painted fairings look awesome! Here's one (mine):

Painted fairing with the graphics Mark picked :)

Nice mug shot Vyper ;)

That was doing 75+ down the James River from Richmond this year. There was so much crap in the water I thought my friend was nuts for crawling up on the deck to take the pics...

Gary C 11-06-2003 01:24 PM

You were doing 75+ and you didn't have your hand on the sticks?? :)

Jan 11-07-2003 02:25 PM

Just off the phone with Rick Gemmill form PQ.
We came up with a great graphic (more so his ideas).

Painted Windscreen, faded from bottom to top (green to yellow), PowerQuest Starting on the Wind screen (passenger side) and fading from blk, grn, yel. Drivers side stripe running from wind screen to bow with same fade as PowerQuest.

I think that will look great and clash with the side gran prix graphics.

Gary - it was on the James River near Richmond during a run with our sister club the RPBA. The water is like glass and there was no traffic so no need for hands on the sticks.

Gary C 11-08-2003 10:24 AM

Vyper,
I could see that it was pretty calm, I was just busting ya:) Your boat looks awsome by the way:)
Jan,
That sounds like it's gonna look great! We wanna see some pictures when it gets done.

I have great idea. Remember the Cigarette boat in Miami called "Strip Poker" with the Bikini clad babe painted full length on the side? How about have an artist paint a picture of Bear in a yellow bikini full length on the deck? What a perfect addition to the "Bear It All"!!!!!:D
When is the delivery?

Pictures just sent from PQ. Paint still wet. It really came out nice! It will sure seem like a new boat to me.

Looks REALLY good!

Awesome!

Nice!!!! I like it without the bow rails. I also noticed it doesn't have the anchor locker. I don't put my anchor in mine anyway. Also what is that fitting to the right of the flush cleat?

Gary, they do not put the anchor locker in anymore. I am glad about that, seems I was one of the few that everyone expected to use my anchor due to the fact it was easily accessible.

The fitting is to the pump-out head. Never have used it in 5 years.

PQ also quit putting non-skid along the sides of the deck, That will make waxing a lot easier.

Jan,
When do you go to pick it up? You better hurry it's gonna start snowing soon:) The boat does look great! I also noticed you seem to have different tips. Did you swap out the Corsa tips? Did you notice a difference, if you did?

Gary, not sure when boat will be completed.

Yes the tips are different, I have gill exhaust with Corsa Captains Call. Also have a B&M flame arrestor and the Computer remaped by Tyler Crockett. 50 degrees and 1/2 tank with engine hatch cracked I have hit 67 mph on gps. (454 mag/efi)

Gary C 11-19-2003 03:19 PM

That's interesting you say you cracked the engine hatch. I was thinking of adding some kind of naca duct on the sides to go to my carb. I think the engine compartment does need more air. I hit 62.7 GPS with a stock 454 mag carb motor. With a K&N 9x5 inch air cleaner and a 21 Mirage Plus repitched to a 22. I'm gonna put a new exhaust on in the spring.

Gary, I was turning a 23 mirage plus at 5200 when I hit 67.

Jan,
I believe you about your speed. In fact I'm impressed with it. I was just telling you what I get. You also have the EFI mag which is good for 35 more HP. I was turning 5050. What did you do to override the rev limiter? I thought it was 5050? Although I did hit 5100 a few times but I was a little over trimmed and did not get any more speed. Plus as you can probably tell I'm already going through the winter blues:) And I just want to talk boats:) What do you think it would take to get 70-75?

Gary, I was not saying anything more than what prop I was using. After I re-read my post , then yours I realized I did not give my prop size.

When Tyler remapped my ECM he raised the rev limiter to 5400.

From talking with Tyler Crockett it will take head work, roller rockers, cam and exhaust to hit 70(+). I have the exhaust already which is one major expense gone. I think I can get the rest done for around 3k, including dyno'd. I had planned on shipping my motor off to Crockett once I got my boat home, but I added almost 2k in extras while the boat was at PQ, might need to wait a couple more months.

Jan

Gary C 11-20-2003 03:17 PM

I was just making sure I didn't inadvertantly insult you. I knew you were at Tyler that's why I knew you would have an idea as to what it would take. So, I'm pretty much stuck with the rev limit unless I go with an msd. When you say headwork is that new heads or rework the ones you have? I wondered if you could just rework these heads. I'm just gonna go with the exhaust right now because as you said that is a big expense. I'm leaning towards the Stainless marine's.

Gary

Jan 11-20-2003 04:00 PM

Re-work my heads. Tyler would perform decking, valve seats, and install bigger valves. He has a complete machine shop and does all of his own work.

On exhaust I got a friend upgrading his motors and bought his Gills for $1200.

If you watch the parts for sale section, exhaust always show up for about 1/2 price.

Raypanic 11-24-2003 07:38 PM

Jan, I think it sucks big time! Your boat has been in there for so long they have pushed off my warranty work until January!

Just kidding

Jan 11-25-2003 09:16 AM

Hey Ray, they told me it would be 3 weeks, so being the avid boater that I am, I multiplied 3 weeks times 4(the boat service constant for time) :D :D and came up with 12 weeks. So PQ still has a couple of weeks left for completion.

New To Power 12-10-2003 04:49 PM

Hey Jan,

You probably haven't seen any of my posts as I usually just sit on the sidelines but I have a 1999 260 with a 502 Mag. I also sent My boat back to PQ to have gel issues taken care of and I ended up very happy with the results. I would post pictures but I don't know how. Can you tell me what they did to your boat ?

Mark fro PQ took care of me like I was a new boat purchaser. The folks at PQ also suggested the deck paint scheme and it turned our great. I am absolutely happy with my PQ as it is like new.

I am interested in improving my performance. I am running mid 60's now with the 502 and a 23 mirage plus. I have noticed that it doesn't take much to trim out to the point where the prop seems to start to loose bite. Everything is totally stock and with no mods whatsoever.

Let me know your thoughts...

Regards

NTP
