I have this boating fever bad.... NTP:D |
What did you have done ??
|
It's a long story but the basics are that the original boat had some spider cracks on the deck and transom area. Powerquest was very fair with me and we worked out an arrangement to replace the hull completely.
I am absolutely sold on the idea that PQ is the best boat company on the market when it comes to the combination of boat quality and customer service. I can't say enough about Mark Winea at PQ. He was a pleasure to work with and I recommend that we promote PQ as they deserve. PQ is #1 in my books !!!! NTP:D |
Great Customer service is right!!!WOW! free hull......Quality????
|
I didn't say it was free....
It was however fair and acceptable... NTP:cool: |

The story goes like this....
-99 260 SX Started showing significant spider cracks on the deck and on the transom around the tabs. -Sent the boat to PQ for inspection and to resolve. -PQ initially responded that the boat had seen some abuse. (The boat has always been babied and kept perfect 100% of the time. No abuse, no rough play, no rough water). -After discussions, PQ obviously took another look and agreed that the deck cracks were probably a Gel issue. - They offered to replace the deck at no cost but gave me the option of new hull at an extra cost.(stipulation was that they would do the work during the next winter season) - I agreed with the re-hull option the next year. - After sending the boat back to PQ for the actual work, Mark Winea took the case over and was absolutely fantastic about keeping me in touch with the whole process, sending me digital shots of the boat in various states of completion and it was delivered on time, in time for our boating season. Again, I congratulate PQ and Mark for their professionalism and great all around customer service. I will definitely be recommending PQ to all my boating Friends. I love the new hull and graphics... Nice to hear that they stood behind it! In my mind it raises some question about quality control.....
|
My understanding is that the application of gel is very difficult and easy to screw up. Too thick and it becomes brittle, too thin and it wears prematurely. I did research this issue and found that many boat manufacturers have gone through a learning curve as to how they apply gel and what brand they use.
Being from the manufacturing sector, switching brands of any paint or surface treatment can spell disaster if it is not tested properly. Even the "world class" manufacturers go through rough times because of often unavoidable changes in process and or materials. Eg. The regular guy that sprays the gel is sick and his replacement is having a bad day, you get crap all over. Alternatively, if the supplier of the gel has a blip in their process', same.... crap all over. At the end of the day, Crap Happen's.... The difference between an average company and an exceptional one is their response once one of these unforseen happenings occur. PQ proved to be an exceptional company in every way. Sorry for the blabbering.... NTP:) |
Bottom line is you're happy with the results and the service rendered. You say new graphics? Heck that almost makes it a completely different boat. No wonder you're excited.
Have a blast in 2004...;) |
CUSTOMER SERVICE......................HUH....they have always had great customer service and it only keeps getting better

I guess the box of Kleenex in post 3 is to wipe the tears after they figured out what that screw up cost them in profit huh :) It must be an oddity because I just did some refit work on my old 1990 powerquest for the current owner and there still isn't a crack anywhere to be seen. Hell knows I beat that sucker good for years.I was wondering where you disappeared to for the last while. Thought maybe you gave up on the sport.Glad to see you will be boating again soon. Hows life in King City these days?
