Cleaning Help
I am wanting to put the name on our boat. What cleans the exhaust soot of the transom? I have tried Sno Bowl and it worked a little.
Thanks for the help. Dave |
Re: Cleaning Help
Dave: Try Royal Purple Cleaner I used it each time I come in from boating. Spray it on and wait a few minutes and use a soft wash cloth or soft brishel brush to help remove the soot. I usually wax that area at the beginning of the season and this helps the soot from attaching to the gel coat because of the wax surface. The only problem with powerquest is that they don't have much room on the rear deck for a name. So you are left with just putting it in small lettering, then you can't see it from far away. Hopes this helps. Blondes Preferred

starbrite black streak remover, it has always worked great for me.

Re: Cleaning Help
If the soot has been left on their for a while you will need a good cleaner wax to remove it. I would use Sea Power for that. Then keep it waxed and it should come right off with boat soap, water and a wash mit.

Re: Cleaning Help
Boat Shield works AWESOME and no one has soot like the Baja does. I have some I will give you this weekend.

Re: Cleaning Help
Dave98,
So what did you use and how did it work? |
Re: Cleaning Help
SouthBound,
I actually used a bunch of different things but what helped the most was acetone. I used it spareingly and cleaned it with other cleaners like vineger and water immediately after. I only used it where the name was going. I am going to get some Boat Shield from Outlaw Cowgirl. She says it works pretty well. Would you have a wax that you would recommend? Thanks, Dave |
Re: Cleaning Help
Dave,
The first time I waxed the boat, I used a a carnauba paste wax from 3M. I did that once! For the last several waxes (2-3 per year), I have been using Waxing Frenzy from Hamerhead Boatworks. Really good stuff, and the boat just SHINES! Easy on and off. |
Re: Cleaning Help
Thanks Southbound. I will do the same thing now that it is too cold to boat.........
