New PQ owner
I picked up a 1999 PQ 270 Laser. Real nice boat I'm real happy with it. Runs about 60mph with the 454 mag. Any one else own a 270 or have any experience with them. Thanks in advance.

Does anyone else have a 270?

Re: New PQ owner
I had a 98 Laser with the same engine. Ran about the same speed. Nice boat with good build quality. Yours is a nice looking boat.

Re: New PQ owner
Thanks Mentalpause! :D
I had the 270 out today, went about 75 miles ran great. I hit 67mph on the speedo and 61.8  on the GPS. It was great out 2-3 ft rollers and some chop. I had a 4ft stingray almost jump in my boat  when I was cruising a no wake zone. |
Re: New PQ owner
I have a 1997 270 laser and I also have the 454 magnum it runs 67 on speedo and I have hit 63 on GPS love it and had it for 4 years it runs in Lake ST. Clair most the time and some times in the great lakes Lake Erie, Lake Huron.

Re: New PQ owner
Hey I just picked up a 1997 27 Lazer myself. Not
sure of the hours yet (low). I need to get it plugged in since it's an MAG MPI the computer should tell me. Was easily hitting 57 on the test ride. I'll try to get some pics up soon. Needed a good cleaning. It's the same graphics as the purple 27 PQ on boatraderonline right now. I paid 34,250. Awsome boat ! Boatnt we'll see ya at blarney's |

Re: New PQ owner
Boatnt
Right now I'm keeping it in front of my house until I get her cleaned up. I have been keeping my other boat a 236 Rinker at ericson's 2nd set of dock's across from Port Ed's. The PQ was kept at Bald Knob buy the first owner. Not sure what happened to the second owner. When I picked it up (through a broker) It was at the marina across the bridge from where the original powerquest dealer was at beercan alley, just north of the soon to be famouse hooter-meter. I forget the name. Dirt floor garages and gravel parking lots suck the life out of a nice boat. I think it will be ok though, It's cleaning up nice. Maybe you know the boat and could give me some history etc., or maybe I shouldn't know. Boat had "Tee It Up" on the back and "Jerkweed offshore" on the windows. That vinyl has of course been REMOVED! Not sure I want to plunk this baby in the river full time. I'm just south of Tavern At the Bridge so I can walk to the boat get on and go. But Cleaning the hull 2 or 3 times a season is getting old. Bald knob is to far and a to pricey. Where do you keep your's ? Do you know anyone that has or has owned an AirDock(looks like a lifeboat for your boat). Looks like it would be perfect for my situation but I'm a bit leary. |
Re: New PQ owner
A guy up at lake Marie keeps a 26 checkmate on a AirDock
looks like it does a good job keeping it clean. I have a slip up at lupas at channel lake. Lets see some pictures of the new ride! and I agree with you Bald Knob is pricey. |
Re: New PQ owner
I know a guy that keeps his 28 Pantara on with no problems. I believe he's going on his 3rd or 4th year with it.

Re: New PQ owner
Guy's thanks for the info on AirDock users. That's a couple more points on the plus side. I'll have to cruise Lake Marie
and try and get a look. Depending on the weather I'll try and get some pic's up. Just spent 2 - 12+ hour days and there's more to go. I't will be worth it. What do you guy's do for Bottom Cleaning/Maintanance etc. How has the hull held up. Do you have lift's etc. ? |
Re: New PQ owner
mpstech, Last year I had my trailer painted so I had to leave the boat in the water. What a mess after 5 days!!!! I ended up taking a large floor jack and while on the trailer and using some wood blocks lifted the boat up on one side. I than slid in some 2x8's across the bunks and lowered it down. That gave me just enough clearance to spray Zing under everything and get it clean.
