Winter Blues
I am seeing the end of winter coming. To help pass the time, I went shopping. I bought a 25 qt Icey-Tek cooler and a Anchor-Shade 6 ft umbrella. I have been looking for a sub-woofer and amp but have not settled on a brand yet. Any ideas?
The cooler looks pretty nice. The best feature is a lock to keep my beverages safe from fellow power boaters. :D Last weekend at the Kansas City boat show I heard that there was a new 30 PQ there. I attended but must have missed it. My friends said it had the flame paint job. Looked pretty cool they claimed. Just buying my boat, I guess I was not looking close enough. I am kind of bummed on missing it. Come on Summer! Dave |
Re: Winter Blues
I am no stereo guru, but I am installing a 10" Infinity sub in my 29. Haven't quite figured out were yet, but after having this sub in my previous boat I may never buy another brand of speaker again. I have sold several others on the brand after they hear it.
I am going to the St. Louis show next weekend, hope to see some PQ gear and buy some waxing frenzy, as well as drool over fiberglass. Finally I can see the light at the end of winter. My goal is to get a late March weekend in the low 60's and hit the water. I also have a new 10k poly lift being installed in March so the action will pick up soon. -Wally |
Re: Winter Blues
Wally,
I thought you were going to the Miami boat show with Rich? I was supposed to go to marco island with friends but I backed out like a fool :( :( Calvin |
Re: Winter Blues
Dave,
I'm with you come on summer :D :D Have to get some work done to the boat, then ready to run it :evilb: :evilb: Sorry can't give any help on the stereo equipment, I just don't know much about it. Calvin |
Re: Winter Blues
Dave:
I had Boston Accustic's in my 29 with a JL Audio sub sounded pretty good, but like you I am redoing the 38 right now and looking at Polk Audio or Infenity. Good luck :D :D Dave why dont you drive to St.Louis next weekend and join us for a coktail :drink: or two :drink: :drink: Calvin: I did not go to Miami either but do I wish I was there :( Oh well what can beat Illionois in Feb. It was a blasting 26 deg today in the center of hell. I know that if I wish long enough summer will get here soon, you know like in June. :D I believe that I am going to Miami next year, but we will see. Don't worry winter is almost over  Calvin are you doing St.Louis? |
Re: Winter Blues
No Miami show for me, but after reading about it so much sounds like we are really missing out.
I don't think Rich is going to Miami either unless that is new news. We'll both be in STL though, along with Rain or Shine..... I am really anxious to run my boat, I have all of 15 minutes on it. |
Re: Winter Blues
Thanks for the opinions on the subs.
What are the dates of the STL show? I am in the area once or twice a month on business. Cocktails sound good! Speaking of cocktails, does anyone know how to make an Appletini? My wife tried one recently and now they are the favorite drink. I need to figure this out before the boating season starts in the midwest!! :evilb: |
Re: Winter Blues
Dave
I believe the St.Louis show starts on Thursday Feb 24 and goes through Sunday Feb 27. Hopefully you can make it. :drink: I have not had an Appletini sorry :( |
Re: Winter Blues
:drink: Appletini Many variations on this one. The Main ingerdient is vodka ( two shots) and one of an apple schnapps. The bar I manage, central WI) we use a double of a decent vodka of your choice, a single apple pucker, a dash ( 1/2 shot) sweet and sour mix, and garnish wth a cherry in the bottom of a chilled martini glass. Some recipes call for spalsh of seven-up though. Experiment

Re: Winter Blues
Rich I saw some fiberglass headed south on 55 yesterday. Not sure what it was..it was by me before I got a good look. It was big tho. I'm assuming they're headed to St. Louie, but it may be a few days early yet. One more week!!! :evilb: :evilb:

Re: Winter Blues
Rich,
I thought I read you were going down to miami, but I guess I was wrong, it is not the first time or the last :D :D I wish I could make it to St. Louis but I can't :( I'm with you guys I can't wait for spring :drink: Calvin |
Re: Winter Blues
Tom,
Going with a custom one of a kind paint job, that will look bad a** :drink: :drink: What kind of graphics are you thinking about? At the miami show it must be awesome to see all those performance boats :D We got a boat slip at blarneys for thursday nights this year, do you go to the races? Calvin |
Re: Winter Blues
Wally,
Is the St. louis show a big one? The one in Chicago isn't that big, I don't know if you have ever been to the Chicago show. I'm keeping my fingers crossed to be on the boat by April. That is if the river is not closed do to high water. Calvin |
Re: Winter Blues
Calvin
If the river is closed trailer down for a weekend :D :drink: Hopefully we will be in at least once by April. :evilb: |
Re: Winter Blues
This will be my first trip to the STL show. But I hear it is more tailored to our style of boating since its the river and LOTO in the area and not the great lakes.
Time will tell, I am just ready to do something affiliated with boating other then OSO....... I did order a new Alpine CD player today for the boat, I guess that counts???? |
Re: Winter Blues
Tom,
We left it at a marina last year, but this year were going to buy a season ramp pass at Harmony. |
Re: Winter Blues
Rich,
That's a great idea, if the river closes like last year we will have to do that :drink: :drink: |
