26 Legend Owners

Just wondering if anyone is running a Bravo III drive with a 454 mag carb setup and how it handles as well as top speed. Also the one I'm considering does not have silent choice and was wondering how loud it would be.

Thanks

Never seen one with a Bravo III. I would suspect 59-60 mph.
The 454 MAG EFI and Bravo I in my boat was 62-63 when I first bought it. Around 65 mph now with exhaust and prop.

The sound will be louder than most boats due to how high the 260 sits out of the water. People have always commented on my boats noise since new, but I do have silent choice when needed. :D

My boat is for sale at what I believe is a good price for a nice 260.

The Bravo III is pretty rare on this boat. You will lose a little top speed. My 454 mag carb motor runs at 62.7 GPS with a stock Bravo. So I would think around 58-59 with the Bravo III. I think the Bravo III is over kill for this boat as mine is an absolute monster out of the hole with a repitched 21 to a 22 Mirage plus prop. Plus it hooks up well in the turns. The Bravo III is really made for bigger heavier cruisers, with mild HP. As far as noise without silent choice, mine has the Corsa muffler tips on the back and it sounds nice without being obnoxious. I would try to find one with a Bravo 1. There are a few nice ones around, just check the OSO classifieds:)

I thought the Bravo III was odd myself. However I seen several at boat show in about the same size and weight. I know they track better at low speeds as well as claim to cruise at a lower RPM than the standard Bravo 1. Gary what year is you 26? I noted you said you had the carb and not the EFI which it seems the majority are.

My boat is a 98. I bought it used from the dealer that sold it. The original owner wanted a carb motor and Powerquest had a few leftovers and that's how my 98 has a carb motor. They stopped making the carb mags in 97 I believe. I actually like having the carb motor. It starts good and never gives me a problem. Plus I installed new exhaust and a K&N without having to have the computer redone:) Call me old fashoned, but computers and water scare me:):)

I agree. I read lots of complants on the EFI's mainly regarding making mods. Seems your very limited and even harder yet to find someone the knows how to re-program.

Your from Michigan, Tyler Crokett in Ruby Michigan, can program the 454 and 502 mags. He did mine. The problem is the new 496 ECU's. Dustin Wipple is the only one that can program them.
