1998 Profile 40' Shipyard Marine, Green Bay, Wi.
Anybody familar with the 1998 Profile 40' at Shipyard Marine, Green Bay, Wi or has anybody rode on a 40' Profile?.
Apparently has 500's that appear to be staggered. I know profile is a little rough around the edges but looking for an 40' power boat 1995 or newer in this price range. The sales guy said speeds in the 75-78 range. It's also a one owner boat. Never rode on any profile so don't know how this boat would ride. Going to use it on the missippi only-no ocean or great lakes usage. |
Tomswift, I know the boat at shipyard. It was bought new by a guy from green bay area. Seen the boat on the water always looked good and from what i was told was well maintained. Do not know how boat performs though??

Thanks for the response. i know profiles have a bad reputation, however, talking to some actual current and previous Profile owners they all say they liked them and were good boats for the money. I also talked to the previous owner of Profile and he said he never had a hull failure. The worst I heard is they had some spider cracking which I've had on a few boats. And yes this boat is a one owner staggered engine boat. I made them an offer but we are still about $6,000 apart and neither one of us wants to budge.

I do not know the boat you are talking about but I do remember reading that the early ones had some issues. The later ones were supposed to be a better built boat. I am sure you will get some in depth answers as I am not totally sure when they actually started to build them better.

up until 2004 the boats were made in Sumner Iowa, after that they were built in Richland Center, WI. and yes the later ones were built considerable better. Now the line is being built under the NRG Boats logo and are located at lake of the Ozarks Mo.

Can't remember his name but was one of the originators along with Mark Lee of the Thunder runs. |
not every boat built prior to 2004 had problems, as far as I can tell there were just a few that had issues. And that is what everone likes to talk about.

My friend has a 40 profile with a pair of 750's.
I have been boating for many years in many types of boats but have only once been in a boat that can plane on ONE ENGINE!!! We were in the Thousand Island Poker Run and we had to slow for a no wake zone near cottages in the narrows. As we passed the last set of maker bouys I yelled over to Chris to open up. We were just putting through the narrows on one engine and he hit the throttle and the boat planed at 45mph plus! I yelled over to him to start the other engine..... He did, and we jumped up to an easy 85mph without effort. This boat is unbeleivable and the Bravos oare offset from the transom with spacers (not sure if the one your looking at has those?) Yes...the engines are stagarred and the boat is outfitted nicely inside, however it's rather plain but functional. I know the boats were handmade originally and care was taken for detail. They are a well built boat so take a good look at the one your contimplating purchasing. |
