Mirage Plus or Hydromotive
I'm looking to buy a new prop, should I go with the Hydromotive 25P or Mirage Plus 25P? I have a Powerquest Legend 260 SX with stock 502MPI. I currently have a 23P Mirage Plus turning 70 mph on speedo @ 5100 RPMs. What's the recomendations to get a couple more mph's? :drink:

The Powerquest boats do not do well with stern lifting props. I would recommend a Bravo I for your boat. Although the 3B Mirage Plus, labbed will probably net the greatest amount of top end. I would try a Bravo I before deciding. The performance and handling gains may surprise you. Keep in mind that our test prop program is always available to you. Please feel free to call anytime.

Re: Mirage Plus or Hydromotive
A Lab Finished 25P Mirage will run about the same rpm as your 23 box stock. The Lab Finished 25P should give you the best gains on top end.
Powerquest boats definately don't like stern lifting props. The Bravo 1 will give quite a bit more stern lift than the Mirage plus. The Bravo 1 will improve your time to plane and your mid range though. Brett Andeson |
Re: Mirage Plus or Hydromotive
So if we're talking stern lift, does the Mirage or the Brazo cause more stern lift?

As stated in the previous post,
Bravo 1's give more stern lift. Brett Anderson |

Re: Mirage Plus or Hydromotive
I had a 97 260 and it liked the Mirage Plus. The B1 drove the bow down too much with the stern lift. You should do pretty good planning with a 502, I had a 454 Mag and it planed with no problem.

Re: Mirage Plus or Hydromotive
If you had too much lift with the Bravo 1 I would stay away form the Hydro. The ones I tried had way more lift than a Bravo, so much that it felt like I had no control over the boat when I was on plane. It felt like my steering wasn't working.........

Thanks for the responses. I think I am going to try a stock Mirage Plus 25P, and if it runs well, I will send it out to be ladded. |
Re: Mirage Plus or Hydromotive
Well, here's a little bit of updated info. I guess the VERY long winter in Upstate NY froze my brain, because I thought I was turning 5100 RPMs. So here's my updated info from the first outting of the season....
flat calm conditions in fresh water 4900 RPMs 67 mph on gaffrig speedo (no GPS) 23P Mirage Plus with minor ding in 2 blades I'm running a 2000 Powerquest 260SX with stock 502 MPI My thought was to go with a 25P labbed prop, but don't know if I am getting enough RPMs? My ultimate goal is top end performance. Any suggestions other than trying them? |
Re: Mirage Plus or Hydromotive
dtsquest,
You are running your motor right about were you should, for top end. So you sould run a 25P Mirage Plus Lab Finished to increase top end. Julie |
