Question props for 94'' 336' formula.

This is the info on the boat, Its a 1994 Formula 336/two gen 6;502mpi,gill ex,Bravo 1-50 drives/ 25 Mirage props. I see 67.5 mph on GPS @ around 5000 rpm the motors are fresh and so are the drives. are these the best props for this boat.i am looking for more top speed. the boat came with 4 blade 24 pitch Bravo1s. I didnt like the bow steer so went the 3 blades. Any advice will be deeply apreciated

The Mirage props are giving you about 15% slip. I would like to see you slip a bit lower. Do you have any performance numbers from the 24P Bravo I propellers? It is possible that the Bravo I propellers could be adjusted to carry the bow better.

Those are good props for your rig. We may be able to work on your existing props to gain the most out of your current set up. Have the props been worked on or are they box stock?

ask brett about spinning the props in instead of out for more lift

Thanks for the replies, to answer the questions on the Mirages yes they are stock. Iwas wondering if I could go to a MiragePlus @ the same pitch for more speed? As far as the24p Bravo1 I only got 62 on GPS but the holeshot was AWSOME. people have told me that four blade props are not realy for a none step hull .Which is probaly why I was getting more stern lift than I needed.

Hi Ginger,

We can do some things to either set of prop you own to improve the current performance.

Stock 25 Mirage Plus will decrease your rpm only slightly and may increase your speed only slightly.

However, if I was to suggest the best propeller for top end speed I would say to have us Lab Finish some 27 pitch Mirage Plus's to a specific recipe designed for your hull.

We would need to talk to you first.

I agree with Brett. Before making your decisions you should really talk to one of us in a bit more detail about your props. Some specifics on your current props may help. The Bravo I propellers do very well on non-stepped hulls, so it is possible that with some adjustments your Bravo I propellers could carry the bow higher or better. Now as far as you Mirage Plus propellers are concerned you really cannot aford the RPM increase that would be produced from Lab Finishing them. If you wanted to consider Lab Finishing a Mirage then you would need to Lab Finish a 27P Mirage Plus. But I really think you should explore your Bravo I props since you really like the hole shot. I believe that it is possible that your bow is not carrying high enough, therefore you have increased wetted surface area or drag which may be causing some of the speed loss you have experienced. Hope this helps.
