Pick me some props

I have a 2000 36 Baja Outlaw. 700 HP AND 1.36 ratio Bravo 1 drives. Max engine speed will be 5400 rpm. The boat loaded will be around 9800 lbs.

I came with 25" Mirage plus props. It had 600 HP and max rpm was 5100.

I never ran the boat with the old setup due to a blown motor so I have no baseline to start with.

Anybody have an idea what pitch I will need and a guess as to what the top speed will be??

My guess is the props you have will be fine. If speed before was around 77 ? Then at 5400 you should go aroung 81-82 at 5400.

We have formulas to figure aprox. speed and determine appropriate pitch. We would be happy to discuss it with you at your convenience.

Your 25's will be good props to get a baseline with.

I strongly recommend a 5B for your application. The 5B props will carry your boat much better than a 3B or a 4B propeller. You have a lot of boat to propel and we have found that the larger Baja's love the 5B propellers.

You have some propellers to work with. Use those first before you buy anything! Get a feel how they respond to the trim button. Take that seat time to compare to other propellers ability to adjust attitude.

Not to contridict any one on this board. But, be sure you try the 5bl before you buy them. I believe you will like them untill about 1/2 throttle. I would rather see you in some specialty 4BL props.

Good testing!

Re: Pick me some props

I'm sure 4 or 5 blade props would work better, but how much more load would the drives see with that setup?? I know the slip would be cut way down.I am going to be sending 700 hp thru the drives. I will have the new motors in next month and I will get a baseline and go from there. I hope someone has a good demo program for me to test with.

Thanks,

Dave

Yes Dave, we do have a wall of test props to work with . We have Mercury propellers and Hydromotive propellers available thru our Prop Fitting Program. Feel Free to call!
