Need prop advise.....
I have a 33' Powerplay with HP500's (full stagger) with bravo 1 drives and 3 blade Mirage 29's turning in. The boat ran it's best of 84mph on GPS with the "tired" motors.(they had 500+ hours on them) The rpm's were approx. 5,000.
I just had the 500's rebuilt with a new cam and flame arrestor, so horsepower should be around 525 each motor. With the 3 blades Mirage's, the boat is hard to get on plane. (The boat has 4 saddle tanks, if I fill the back ones, it's really hard to get on plane) I want to go to a 4 or 5 blade prop, whatever will help the boat get on plane easier and hopefully not lose any speed. What do you reccommend? |
Re: Need prop advise.....
From my experiences with the Powerplays, your boat will perform better with the round ear blade designs. In your case you should consider either a Bravo I 4B or a Hydromotive P5-X. These propellers will both give you additional stern lift, which will assist you in carrying the stern better. If you want to try some test props just let me know.

Re: Need prop advise.....
The story behind the 29 Mirage is a long one. They are in a league of their own.
Try some 4bl props and try both in and out rotations. We can set you up with the correct Lab Finish recipe should you decide. 30 Bravo 1's with the right curve will take you there. |
Re: Need prop advise.....
Thank you both for your opinions. i will be deciding what to do very soon.

Hey Brett, what is the 29 Mirage story?
Semper Fi: What was the cam change and is it harder to get on plane than it was before? |
