Who makes the better outboard prop?

Obviously from reading these threads a prop is not just a prop.
Who makes the better outboard props?
What makes them better?
If your going to have a prop guy dial them in does it matter which you start with?

My boat is a 30 AMT w/ 300x's

Re: Who makes the better outboard prop?

There are alot of good outboard propellers in the market place.

At BBLADES we really like the Mercury 3bl line of cleavers. We have alot of experience in customizing them for various applications. It depends on your boat and desired returns. Sometimes round eared propellers are the answer.

Mercury, Hydromotive, Mazco, Performance, Hill, Spinelli, etc. all have quality propducts.

That's a loaded question. There are many manufacturers who make high quality props. The key is selecting the right prop for the application.

I would say the best prop is the one that runs best on your boat.

Re: Who makes the better outboard prop?

Ok I tried a set of 29'' 4 blades hydros on my motion. They are stock unworked props. I usually run 34'' cleavers that Matt has tuned.. The 29''s would hardly roll on to plane cruise speed was down about 5mph ( less that I expected) and I could not pull them past 5000rpm That cost 35 to 40mph off my top end. I would not have believed that any props could have affected the boat that much, it even seemed to ride harder and the mid range was not great. Nothing against hydromotive Just the wrong prop for the Job, but the loss was dramatic! To answer your question.. stick with the merc cleavers.

Hey Brett..quick Question For Ya. Was Talkin To A Few People That Have Been Playing Around With Lightning Ets...what Do You Think Of Slightly Rounding The Tips Of The Blades On A 3 Blade Cleaver ? Say For Instance You Took A 15x32 And Rounded The Tips ?

Re: Who makes the better outboard prop?

Depending on the scenario, it can improve boat attitude.

My advice though, if we think it will work, get ET's.
