The same old story, what prop?

Another one for the experts.....

Boat info:
2000 Powerquest 260 Legend SX with a 502MPI Mag
4950 rpm's getting 67 mph on flat calm conditions, high humidity, Gaffrig gauges, no GPS. Bravo 1 drive.

Prop info:
I currently have a Mirage Plus 48-13704 23P. This prop has 2 very small dings from previous boat owner. I was considering repairing and having it labbed. Instead, I purchased a used Mirage (not Plus) 48-13706 25P. It appears that I may need some sort of spacer for this to fit?

What prop do I want for optimum top end, what should I buy? Or should I get the 23P repaired and labbed?

Depending on the vintage of the propeller, certain thrust washers may be needed.
Labbing the 23 may put it into the rev limiter.
Please give us a call at your convenience to discuss the options for your set up.

Re: The same old story, what prop?

I would run a Mirage Plus 25P lab finihsed if you are only interested on top end. If you have some other goals as well, then this may not be the case. But 3B propellers will typically net a greater top end than a 4B ....unless your 3B a inefficient with a great amount of slip, but in your case you have 7% slip. This is assuming that you have 1.5 gears, your 23P Mirage Plus is a true 23P and your tach is accurate and your speeds are accurate gps readings. So in your case you will probably loose speed going to a 4B prop but the performance gains will be there.
