First Prop Test, Need Opinions
 

Finally got the 27 Daytona with twin 600hp motors going this past weekend, the motors ran great, but propping it is going to be more of a job. I bought a couple sets of used props to try initially, 31" Herring 5 blades, and 30p. stock Bravo I's. I should mention XR's 1.5 ratio. Tried the Herrings first. I did not want to push the motors hard for break in reasons and also had my family and mechanic on board.
The boat acted well in the long idle zones with the Herrings and when I went to power up the boat would not plane without everyone moving forward in the boat. After I did get it on plane it rocked. Acceleration was great, attitude was great, at 4,400 rpm I was going 88 on GPS, redline on the motors will be 5,500, and I had lots of throttle left. I was shocked when my mechanic showed me the GPS. I thought that 31 may be too much prop, but now I don't think so. But the planing problem is unacceptable to me. With stock motors I had stock 28p. Bravo I's that came on plane very well, almost no slip.
The next morning I tried the 30p. Bravo I's, the boat came on plane pretty well there was some slip, because of Lake Cumberland drift at that time I couldn't go faster than 40 and didn't get any data except 40 mph @ 2500 rpm. I get the feeling that this may not be enough pitch.
Is it surprising that the 4 blade would be better planing than the 5 blade. I need to test more, but I was wondering what everyone thinks the best style of prop for my boat may be.

The Semi-cleaver propellers work well on Eliminators in general. However without WOT RPM readings I cannot make a final recommendation for you. The stern lifting Herings may be giving you to much lift for your drive heigth. Once you take her to WOT we can better determine porppellers for your application.

I know not the same boat but friend has 28 daytona with 575 hp motors. Running 1.36 gears with 30 bravos. With 1.5 gears I think you will need at least a 32 bravo.

I believe you have the older model 27 with twins. I bet you will be up to least 34" B1 props with 1.50 gears if you have 600 hp.

Probably 34 B1's with special tips.

We need to get a little more info as the motors break in.

I will get some W.O.T. numbers weekend after next, thanks for the responses. My gut feeling is that with a higher pitch prop, I may have a problem getting on plane. I almost think in the end, I may have to change gears, which I do not want to do. Eric
